I found this log way down in the swamp and worked to hook it up and drag it 3 miles to high ground. I let it air dry for a few weeks until it was light enough to wrestle into the truck. I have some 40” wide 14’ long 2” thick axe cut in late 1800’s I’ve pulled out of the swamps in Louisiana
I was going to say something about 'Florida Man', but then recognized that this was the cleanest, neatest and best laid-out US mill-yard I have ever seen. The vast majority are filthy garbage-dumps, with off-cuts and trash covering every square-foot, so seeing this one was a pleasant surprise.
Really nice! It’s an old, well loved LT40. Still going strong. You found a real treasure in that log! Appreciate the shout out!
I've helped cut many many tons of this when I was a kid! In the world's most dangerous homemade sawmill in my opinion. In caryville FL.

Save some pieces for turning a bowl. It would be gorgeous.
Only wormy chestnut looks better. I can envision sooo many ptojects made from this lumber once stabilized! Edit: 11:40 that bookmatch!
The rest of that tree help construct the MayFlower.

Level that log out do you don’t cut that angle through the heart of it
The old1 stuff was over six feet in diameter.

This was probably the second or third cut up, been rotting away the outer layers for 100 years and still had 157 growth ring that could be counted.
Beautiful wood but novice operator. Should have just made a 4x4 or 6x4 mantle out of it.
Looks like firewood to me

You are definitely on the wrong channel then. These channels are not just about construction lumber .... they are about wood. Not just any wood, but wood with character, incredible grain, color, special features ... and a great eye and imagination of what could be. Come back when these folks have turned this "firewood" into art, or an heirloom that will live forever. Take care Tim.

All at home sawmills have a carbon dating feature.

I often look at logs and predict there age. He's a little out, I'm thinking 1004 years x

You silly kids. The age is determined by the accu-set computer that’s on the sawmill. And any one with half a brain can see the log is 1000 years old. SMH lol

It looks more like a fence post than a log. Your wasting your time sawing by sawing this thing.
There’s nothing about this log that’s all that impressive to me. It’s tiny. 🤷♂️
