Dennis Ratering I saw him in 76 on his Wings Over America tour and was front row dead center. "Wings at the Speed of Sound" was his latest album and he opened with Venus and Mars/Rock Show. Back then you could see bands with general admission and could sit anywhere you could get. My girlfriend at the time Tina Koustenis (you out there Tina? I remember you fondly) for to the Capital Center (long gone) in Landover, Md. 3 hours early in my 71 Pinto (loved that car) before they opened the doors and RAN to the stage, it was awesome. We were probably 20 feet further back than the fellow filming this. Can you believe it only $15.00? I never forget that night, it's one of my best memories. I had to work that night but told myself if I couldn't get off work fuck it I quit, I'm going to see a BEATLE! Seen him 3 times since, twice in 1990 in D.C.and 2005 in Philadelphia. Those tickets could me $630.00. What a difference time makes.

When I was there, all I could think about was Why? All these great artists played here! Performers who have appeared at Pappy & Harriet's over the years include Paul McCartney, Eric Burdon, Eagles of Death Metal, Queens of the Stone Age, Rufus Wainwright, The Donnas, Grizzly Bear, Neko Case, Spiritualized, Lucinda Williams, Leon Russell, Arctic Monkeys, Daniel Lanois, Band of Horses, Sean Lennon, Billy Corgan and the Spirits in the Sky, Vampire Weekend, Wanda Jackson, Ricki Lee Jones, and so many more.[1][2] A surprise appearance by Robert Plant in early 2006 led to a jam with the Sunday evening house band, The Thrift Store All Stars, which featured Victoria Williams. Not to mention the bands that played there unannounced that are not on any list . I'll bet many "famous" stadium players would love to play a small club again where you actually can see and feel the vibes of the audience. The problem of course IS the audience. Years back NeilYoung showed up unannounced at the old Catalyst in Santa Cruz. Crowd went nuts. Neil said he'd love to come back if we could keep his appearance quiet. (Don't broadcast it). He showed up another time and the word got out that Neil Young plays the Catalyst and it got a little crazy and he didn't come back. So if a fampous stadium player shows up art your club, enjoy it to the max, but keep it under your hat.

@@rebekahnorman8991 Even though I wasn’t there in person, I can almost imagine I was there because of the intimate setting and how good it was recorded up close. You can feel the heat, so to speak. What a great show! Thank God someone recorded it and thank God for KZread so I can see it! It’s great music still and I enjoyed it immensely as well! And since I can’t afford concert tickets these days, this is the next best thing. I play it on my 60 inch Flat Screen and it’s almost like a live show! I have a fine quality picture! And I can rewatch it too so I’m pleased! Enjoy! Fellow Beatle Fan!
A simple guy from Liverpool has certainly come a long way and changed the world forever.

Thank you for sharing you are a legend.
Love it when it's this raw!!!!
Wow, thanks for posting! Awesome feels like I'm almost there!
It is a well known tale by Paul that in 1968, he would stop at pubs in England, sit up against a piano and play "Hey Jude", even though it was only in the working stages

I'm from Liverpool, never heard that, so it;s either not a well known tale, or you're a fuckin liar
thanks for holding your phone steady...i don't think I'd be able to
Utterly fantastic! Thank U!!!
OMG her face at the last second- knowing she'll never see him again
Amazing!! Thanks for posting 🤙🏼
him and three others made my growing up that much sweeter - thank you paul!!!
Paul is a performer at heart. Big venue, small venue, interviews, movies ... anywhere ... he truly loves performing ... and we truly love watching him perform! ❤
I can't imagine how it must have been to be that close. That's stage dive distance wow.
Kudos to sir Paul for doing this!
This is such a treat ...awesome bunch of musicians with Paul..thanks for sharing

Pretty poor sound overall, but it does capture Paul's amazing bass playing. And fun to feel like you were part of the crowd, which is more than half of what the whole experience is all about.

My wive and I have watched this a dozen times we love it…. 66 years old and remember them on the Ed Sullivan show…. Awesome!!!
jeeeeeeeeeezuzz...how lucky to be in this moment.
I am the one with the iPhone up asking him to sign my arm, and he said he couldn't reach me hahaha. Excellent video, this is the closest we'll ever get to see the Beatles at the Cavern back in the 60's :')

Tacoma 55 .......yawn.......
i was on that stage about 2002 or abouts, did a cover with the house band..i totally pulled it off, and Harriet came over to tell me so!! Some good ole days are still rockin with Sir Paul and friends
You rock my sox Paul.... Gotta be one of my faves... :)
Youse guys are brilliant and I’d love to see youse live .
This is what i like at most, concerts in clubs instead of big stadiums. Because makes you feeling the artist closer, i believe is more enjoyable, it is not necessary to hear 20.000 watts to appreciate your favourite band
well done thanks !
Paul still rocks!
that was awesome
This is the only famous person I don't think I could handle meeting lol. I would die on the spot. Amazing video.
Thank you
This video put me right there with them great job. To think I have played and sung right where Paul was. I guess that's the closest I'll ever come to meeting hm. Lived in Yucca Valley for twenty years and am moving back in two years to retire.

I'm assuming you were there, did you see all the photos of bands that played there?en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pappy_%26_Harriet%27s

@chad Life coach, I love it I moved for my music but am soon returning to end my days there. It's quite small a great place to settle down and retire. If you don't mind driving an hour and up to see or go to happening spots two hours from anything you need or want! As soon as my daughter graduates from architecture college (K-State) we're moving back!
You lucky lucky bar stewards for being there.....so close!!! Thanks for uploading. Well jealous
How special - how lucky to be there.
Killer set. Wow.
So awesome! Thanks for posting! Now you have some idea what it must have been like in the old days watching the Beatles perform in places like the Cavern and Casbah.

How can someone be so cool
You can hear ‘the Beatles’ even through the bad audio recording. It’s just magic.
This guy - a real genius - can`t be older! It`s a classical wonder! Paul play this song since ZWENTY-FIVE Yeeeaaaahrs!!! It`s like it was "she was just 17....."
LEGEND!
Isn't it wild how much better security is now that Paul is able to play at such a small venue. ha

Wasn't this his original neighborhood pub? I think this had something to do with Stephen Colbert or Conan O'Brien.
I would have died right there! Awesome!
Maravilhosa música. Maravilha do século sir Paul McCartney !!!!
I was waiting for the fire to start on the back wall ! All seriousness aside though, how surreal is that? Excellent quality camera work, stayed focused where it should be on Sir Paul sound is good. Could be worth some serious coin someday. Would make an excellent flashback scene in movies such the "Hangover " series just as one example. Awesome video!

Yup! I've always regarded this (studio version) as the quintessential rock & roll toon. Perfectly balanced musically, IMHO! Everything... just fits.
First Beatles song I ever heard. On a jukebox in the 60’s in Spain......
Drove two hours out to the desert... arrived in a timely manner... there were just too many people. Don't regret trying. But fuck, the absolute disappointment and sadness that set in the next day, especially seeing the first few youtube vidz that were posted. Man... beyond dream show that I was so close to seeing I could taste it. I would have died happy no matter whatever else happened in my life. Oh well.

Just replied to your other comment... You got in!!!??? You bitch! haha... just kidding. Wow. So jealous. I've seen him two other times... so there's that. But not at a restaurant that fits 200 people or so. Good for you... life changing show I bet. Not just a beatle... but fucking paul maccartney. Lennon being resurrected and playing The Echo or something would barely beat out the pappy and harriets show.

Makes me want to be 17 again! "Sigh!"
That night Paul played an impromptu gig 15 minutes from my house.... and I had to work.... sigh
I'm was late to the party on this one, but I love Pappy & Harriet's. Had I known I would have called in to work!
nice .....
