Now would be a good time to support the band by buying CD's, downloading music, and tipping the band through Venmo or PayPal. All musicians are going to be suffering financially in the coming months because of travel restrictions and canceled concerts. French Quarter Festival has been canceled and Jazz Fest will probably be next. Festival month (April) in New Orleans is a prime time for musicians to perform before large crowds and bring in significant income. Tuba Skinny's summer tour could also be affected. They are no longer allowed to busk on Royal Street since the city has opened the street up to vehicular traffic, so that is another source of income that has dried up. All of you who watch KZread videos need to do what you can to help the band in their time of need. Tubaskinny.com has CD's and downloads for purchase. You may tip the band at Venmo (tuba skinny) or through PayPal (tubaskinny@gmail.com).

January 2019: cancer diagnosis, surgery, chemo, radiation & because the cancer attacked my immune system I also had shingles twice and bronchial pneumonia and until February 1, 2020 was pretty much on house arrest by my Doctors. In mid-February 2020 I received the cancer-free diagnosis just in time to have 2 free weeks when the quarantine hit and I have been in isolation all over again and was struggling to keep my morale up and then - viola - I discovered Tuba Skinny who along with the Good Lord Above and some amazing medical teams, have saved my sanity and my spirits. I have begged, pleaded, whined, bribed, cajoled and threatened my family and friends to get on You Tube and type in Tuba Skinny for the world's best kept musical secret. I cannot recall a time in my life when a group of musicians has blessed my soul and heart and physical well-being with every note they play and sing. James Sterling thank you for the great videos. Without you this would not have gotten to me. I dance around the house to their music and do not go one single day without listening to them. Gosh - but I love their music. And - what do I want for Christmas 2020: my own mini-bass drum to sit on so that I can play along with the band.

catgirldo, you made my day! I am so glad the music makes you happy. Tuba Skinny has that effect doesn't it? I remember when I first discovered them on KZread over 5 years ago. They still make me smile when I see them and they obviously do the same to you. When things get back to normal for you and New Orleans, you need to treat yourself to a trip to see them live.

They are truly lovely people who are absolutely dedicated to their music and full of anecdotes and local information. It was a dream come true to have met up with them. I just wish they would come to Wales ASAP. We'd give them a great welcome in the Valleys.

Brava!!!! Shaye and BRAVO! team. I am in awe of the camaraderie and 'subtle signals' by which you all communicate. I'm Asperger's myself, with only musical 'aspirations' and little talent communicating. It's been WONDERFUL to see how it works. I've been liking, and sharing widely. And Erika wasn't in this one, and I miss her voice. You ALL raise the hairs on the back of my neck and make me tap both my feet in some kind of Primal connection. Whatever. Please keep doing what you're doing, and I'm MORE than happy to support and share.

Tuba Skinny with all these great guest musicians:Maria Muldaur, the powerful young singer from Argentina Mariana I think, the washboard player and now the trombone player. And there are some new tunes like the "Diamond Dove" by Shaye or the characteristic "Sugar House Stomp" Last but not least the wonderful performance of "Owl Call Blues" A marvelous evening. The CDC is advising folks over 60 to avoid crowds and a convention of medical doctors just cancelled their trip to New Orleans for this year. I’ve been trying to figure out why this band has such a fanatical fan base on the internet. Well of course there’s the music, old time jazz and blues played by a group,of fantastically gifted musicians. There are a number of other bands that come close but don’t quite make it. It’s not slick, sophisticated videos shot by professionals in ideal studio conditions. Their videos are mostly shot by amateur fans at street corners in NewOrleans, farmers markets ( and fields sometimes! ) small clubs and bars and town squares in Europe. It’s not the band members sporting the latest fashions or in the case of girls false eyelashes and fancy make up. You’ll never see a Tuba Skinny sporting tuxedos and bow ties, hell they don’t wear shoes sometimes! No I think the main reason is that you can sense that apart from their musical ability they are just regular down to earth human beings who love what they do and it shows through on nearly every video. The start of this particular video is a priceless example of this and I wish we could see more of this side of the band. So there you are Tuba Skinny, DONT EVER CHANGE! Oh and once again thanks to all those people who take the time and make the effort to post these videos, the world thanks you.
