Very reasonable stance on WoW vs FFXIV. Used to be when I finished all the content I wanted in FFXIV, I'd take a break and do WoW. When I was tired of WoW, back to FFXIV it was. Overall, I like that you can finish MSQ and raiding in FFXIV, and then do some other stuff until there's a new patch/xpac. When you do come back, I'll be sure to follow the streams!

Frankly I'm ecstatic that the endgame for FFXIV is nothing like the time vacuum that exists in WoW, more so since the game updates relatively more frequently rather than linger in a year-long limbo of the exact same content and when that content's done and dusted I can play other games. The idea of a monogame is cringe.

I feel like FFXIV end game isn't so much a line but branches off in all kinds of direction. There is just so much to do and work towards at endgame. Though I do agree that what is "streamable" will dip. Besides for raiders FF streams will often be more of a chatfest then other streams are. Which are already chatty to begin with. Like you can get really into crafting, Island Sanctuary, Hunts or mount famrs but it hits that level of repetition that is different from when streaming the MSQ. So most streams tend to fall into chat mode while doing random stuff. But for not streamers that is a good thing. That kind of lowkey but entertaining stuff. And if that stuff isn't for you, like YoshiP always says, go play other stuff and comeback later.

Man, Pint is so damn entertaining with the editing. I am playing FF14 right now but I definitely do not see it as a long term game. I feel like playing through the story and hanging out at max level for awhile then moving on to something new. The cool thing is though, you get hundreds of hours for the dollars spent and it is really an entertaining game.

7:00 this statement right here is why XIV needs more "hardcore" content; or at the very least more Variety in Midcore-Hardcore content, for those players that do stick around. What do casuals do? AFK in Limsa, Glamour Farm, Mount Farm, RP, Maybe Level another Job/Profession, and MSQ then they stop playing after 3months into the Expansion to come back right before the next Expansion launches. Sure a few stick around throughout, and some may step into EXs or Savages. We literally have Veterans & New Players alike screaming into the void that is SE to give us more variety content to keep us engaged in the game, and not just the Savages/Ultimates Raids. Criterion is the step in the right direction, but the next iteration NEEDS GEAR to gear Alt Jobs. But all in all, we really need content for that Gear outside of just Ultimates. It feels like there's something seriously lacking in XIV, and I know we all feel it in our core. We got this Entire game set up for the Casual Players in mind, so they don't feel completely left out. But on the other end the game completely shits on those that want to actively play it for longer periods of time. I know the game has issues with it's Gear & Gearing Systems, Balance, etc., but I'll stay away from that topic for now, and focus on the statement Savix just made in the timestamp. To wrap this up though, no I'm not saying make content you HAVE TO play on the daily to "keep up," because I do have a life outside of this game. But this game is seriously lacking in True Endgame content(s) to keep long-term players interested in actively playing the game. Everything is made for the Casual Player in mind, and it's seriously starting to get old. Keep their content flow yes, but also please consider those on the other end. Again, content like Criterion is a good step in the right direction, just need more of that with Rewards that are worth the effort. Sorry for the long essay, and probably repeating myself over and over haha. Just a passionate player, wanting to see XIV improve where improvement is wanted & needed. Edit: Yes I understand the casual crowd's stance on "Ffxiv isn't meant to be like WoW where you stay and play forever, Yoshi-P specifically states that it's OK if players don't play the whole time and is fine that people takes breaks and play other games." So lemme just stop you right there before anyone comments that, I don't want WoW's Hamster Wheel Style. There's More Than One Way to Create Content That's Good To Keep The Hardcore/Midcore Players Engaged For The Longterm. My point I tried making in my essay above still stands. Those that are Actively Playing for the Long-Term want/need more content catered to them from time to time like Criterion(but praying for the next iteration to have Valuable rewards worth the effort). Not EVERYTHING being catered to the Casuals only(who more often than not, Don't Actively Play The Game Throughout an Expansion). Edit2: imo I agree, some of the characters should of stayed dead tbch.....it made it less impactful seeing them come back....It would of made room for more characters to be introduced into the future story arc(s)

I don't really like WoW's hamster wheel ending where you're never finished with your character. You're supposed to reach an end point and take breaks. 😅 I don't really understand the high arena rank grind specially when you're a multi glad like Savix. At that point you're doing it just to do it. You're one of the best players you play with some of the best players that's like going to a karate dojo to beat up on the kids class to prove how much of a black belt you are lol... is that really satisfying? Now if you were to enter some tournament circuits with cash prizes that be what would fuel my fire. Real competition can't be found climbing the same ladder you've climbed many times before.

SPOILER... honestly with the losses we did accrue, im just happy yoshi P and the team decided not to break out hearts. The problem is... from now on with the ARR story done, everyone is free game in the next era's story...

While most MMOs try to keep their player indefinitely tied to this one specific game, FF14 tries to make people want to play the other SE and especially FF games - why else do we have all those cross overs? Not only for already established fans but also fans-to-be. Which is a very good marketing strategy, all things considered...

14 is not the game for mindless grinding an IO score, its a game for when you wanna snap out of the mindlessness and have fun with friends. Lots of people that do stay say its hard to be social and make friends in other mmos.
