This has been one of the most amasing and inspirational videos I have ever seen on KZread. Thank you so much. Thank you also for showing me how stupid I was growing up in the steam age and not appreciating how quickly it would disappear.
Hats off to volunteers the recordist and Documentary makers. Its absolute beauty and marvel to see this sream revival. Salute to spirit of all involved.
Gentlemen, I'm honestly not a locomotive fan, but i'm halfway through this brilliant documentary and started thinking..... If/when the shtf, I'll not be surprised that these magnificent machines will make a comeback! No ECU or computer chips in these great marvels of engineering! Having said that, i'm going to finish watching this! Many thanx to Spark for the u/l (and of course a Happy? New Year!) Cheers! Mick
These folk are a different breed of men. There has to be more than the mundane trudge of material existence to make life worthwhile. Being the son of a Railway man, I do feel that drive and love for those glorious days of steam. Thank you for letting me partake off this glorious venture: I follow you with glee!
I love steam trains, grew up watching Thomas the Tank Engine on PBS Kids. I love them and I don’t want them to go away

@@davidantoniocamposbarros7528 Reverend W. Awdry also volunteered at the Talylyn Railway too thus the one of amazing stories of Thomas began its journey on the narrow gauge railways like another train departing out of station with smoke and steam.

The Talyllyn Railway's most famous volunteer by far who, even though he can be seen in some of the footage in this documentary, isn't even acknowledged by the narrator. This documentary is very good and I really like it, but to overlook the Reverend seems very remiss, especially when you consider how many foreigners know about the Talyllyn because of his books.
Boys literally just went “let’s just build a damn railroad.”
Fantastic film!! Would love to see the second film uploaded on the preservation of standard gauge steam looks fantastic as well!
absolutely fantastic film, took me back to my childhood in the UK
I love trains so much, and to know that so much with the steam type happened in Europe (don't remember where they were) is just so fascinating

What a wonderful video!! Thanks for uploading it!! Any chance of the next episode?
Come on, come on sang tal. We’re coming along, we’re coming along sang the coaches back.. tal was loving his day out ,even though he still wondered if skarloey was saved like he was hoping to see his twin skarloey again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the most fantastic Documentaries I have watched in a very long time! 👍
One doesn't always need a hammer, but sometimes there is nothing like the Universal Universe Adjuster swung smartly. I've split wood, moved pallets for wood, and straighten wood piles, all with a swinging hammer. There is special feeling around digging and doing something like this. An old friend was involved this a similar project in Maine. It was the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway. It is also narrow gauge. God Bless you all
Volunteering, that's awesome, these are great people.
A wonderful documentary!
Very enjoyable video so nice to look back at the good old days.
Ah yes almost an hour of this and only steamies very enjoyable
Wow I like it

There was, for standard gauge engines, but it does not appear to be posted on KZread.
Is the narrator Jenny Agutter?
Anyone know why this video is not available if you’re in the UK?

Probably TV rights or something like that. Maybe some TV Channel in the UK has the Broadcasting rights to it in the UK. I mean at the end of the day the documentary is uploaded by a New Zealand broadcaster and if they want to upload it to KZread that's their choice, that just means they have to block it in the countries where other broadcasters have the rights to it.

Note that this might also be partially because the elderly are more likely to have the time to volunteer a lot more due to being retired from conventional employment, too, and may not be entirely due to a lack of interest...
