    .17 HMR is such a fun round. Those little buggers are a pain in the ass. I had a family just destroy a valve box that I have. It was so gross, I had to shut off water to part of my field and before I could get down to the valve in the vault I had shovel out, no joke, about a foot of marmot poop. I hate those things. They also got into the wiring on some vehicles… the 17 is by far the best form of rodent removal. Plus the hawks were happy.

    17hmr can drop anything under a feral pig/Coyote/small deer. Medium sized game. Do not try hunting bucks with this small round unless you are a dead shot driving tacks home it's not sufficient for large game. I hear a lot of folks like 350 legend for large game. If you are a furbearing trapper or hunter these 17hmr rifles are great for clean heads hots. It's a very accurate round within 100 yards. I've killed hundreds of squirrels with mine and it's always a clean thru and thru with a headshot. Same with rabbits. They will do a backflip and it's over.

    @@dirtroadsoldier8359 I have never used mine on a feral pig. At the end of the day shot placement and minimum FPE matter you need to know where to aim and how much energy you need to get through the bone and organs at that distance. So if it takes 150 FPE to penetrate a deer at 150 yards you probably shouldn't use anything under a 22magnum. I've heard many people have used less than 130 FPE on mid sized pigs at 50 yards. 17hmr should do fine as long as you know where to shoot and how far away it is.

  • @xSpaceInvader

    @xSpaceInvader

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you think about it farmers and butchers used 22LR at point blank to headshot cows for slaughter. Im not sure if this worked for pigs also but that says something. Thats less than 100 FPE. A lot of airguns can hit over 100 FPE and the laws on them are more relaxed in a lot of states. I've been looking into them personally as I'm getting into nuisance wildlife removal and I'll be within city limits on some jobs. Florida has been using them to remove snakes and iguanas from homes and businesses. Quick euthanization. Some of these airguns can go over 600FPE from what I've been reading. Pretty sure that could drop any animal in the US.

    First you have to find out if they are legal in your state to have. Second KZread suppressors. There are tons of makes and models. You could do a form 1 where you make it yourself after you get your tax stamp back but the Atf changed a bunch of stuff on it as it was easier to get a stamp back. go to a local gun shop or FFL and ask to see some cans pick one you like and do a form 4. I'm in the process now well I've done the paper work as of February 28th and still waiting for approval for another 30 cal can. Its Bs in my book if you can own. Firearm you should be able to get a suppressor over the counter. KZread suppressors and the forms and It will give you and Idea of what your looking at in time and receiving.

They can get expensive too I was looking at one that was 400$ but they were shooting it at 100 yards with half moa accuracy.
