It's hard to grow tomatoes in Half Moon Bay. At least it seemed so for my sister who used to live there, and she has a pretty good green thumb. Being on the coast there are ocean breezes and overcast days, where I would have a lot more sun and heat being more inland an hour away. This was very informative though. Good info. Maybe these were grown in some of those big greenhouses

i make a hobby out of rescuing the 'left overs' as Walmart switches from summer to fall items. Buy a bunch of half dead ivy, succulent, and other plants for 50 cents each (sometimes less!), raise them up over the winter, and sell them off at around 5 bucks each, 10x the size, sometimes i have to split them. Use that money to stock up for the next fall rescue, so i can repeat it. keeps me sane in the long Maine winters.

I tried these a couple of times when I was young. I would follow the directions exactly and they would die quickly. Researching was a lot more difficult back then since it was pre-internet days, so I just thought they were too sensitive and I had strayed too far from the care instructions on the package. I haven't tried again since the internet became a thing so I might just pick another one up and see what happens now that I am armed with better info.

Tomato plants can get diseases that wipe them out fast. I have had some beautiful ones, and ones that up and crap out. Don't be discouraged, it likely wasn't your fault. To prevent transplant shock, or to perk them up, put about 1tsp of Epsom salts in a gallon of water to water them with.

I worked for Walmart for a couple months over a year ago. My sections were garden center and toys. We sold these exact ones. For whatever reason no one would put them outside in what we called the patio; they would keep them inside near the register. No sunlight, no water, and very low chance of catching any bugs. After seeing the first batch of them die and only 1 or 2 sold, I took matters into my own hands, not for walmarts sake, but because I felt bad for the plants. I took the next batch that came in out to the patio with the other plants. They got some sunlight, were watered regularly and had at least a little better chance of catching something, but the containers were still an issue. These lasted a little longer and most sold. I did the same thing with the next couple batches until I left. I wouldn't say I saved them, but I definitely made their lives a little better and hopefully gave them a fighting chance.

It helps if you research a plant before you get one to see what it needs and if you can provide it. Venus flytrap only grows in one place on earth so you have to try to mimic the weathers there. Same with pets you should always research it first, it's extremely important because you don't wanna feel like a bad person afterwards if you can't take care of it.

I once purchased a 'Venus Flytrap" from the Action-store. It wasn't really cheap either. After 4 months of carefully watering it and putting it in broad sunlight, turns out it was a cucumber plant. I went back to the store, they refused to give me my money back and also refused to take the rest of the products out of the rack. Ridiculous.

What you said about the planned obsolescence, many “mainstream easy to raise” plant companies do this! My mom bought me a cactus in a small pot which appeared to have gravel on top of dirt, but later when the cactus sadly died, we broke the rocks and there was *NO* dirt in the pot! It’s so crappy they do this because even if they’re not conscious, plants are still living things and shouldn’t be sold just to die and be replaced with another plant which will also die soon.

I found out if you have a wilting spider plant, put it outside (if it's summer) He SPRUNG back to life. I sat him outside to die in peace after he couldn't recover from a night of frost (I'm in Wisconsin, where weather is bipolar), and a few days in the summer heat, he started flowering. It was hot and humid, he's a tropical plant. Makes sense to me. Now he's a hanging plant in my living room, with several feet of reproductions. Proud plant mama. BTW his name is Parker and his brother is Peter. They're both spider plants. It's a pun.

I bought this brand from Walmart yesterday, and mine doesn’t look like a clone. It looks like a new plant. I’m pleased. I just grabbed one without looking at it-assuming it needed help. It seems outside of direct sunlight there’s not much I can do to help it right now. It’s puny and it’s got lots of baby leaves 🥰 I removed about 7 very small dead traps. The spare room has had plants in it throughout the years and has some fungus gnats right now… For it, I think it’s the best place lol. There’s a sunny windowsill completed with a gnat graveyard. There is this girl on YT who described the flower seed pods to look like sunflowers. I think she’s never grown a sunflower in her life. Her Venus flytrap seed pods looked like death flowers. Which is so fitting because it’s a carnivorous plant’s future generation of carnivorous plant babies lololol. I hope it all goes well now that I know they need extra lots of sun! Thanks for the info!! I won’t freak out when it dies in the winter I guess 😅

I've tried a couple of times, unsuccessfully, to grow Venus fly traps. I didn't have time to do anything BUT read the care directions on the back of the tube. It's kind of dumb they don't tell you the correct information on how to take care of these plants. I'm sure others, like me, just gave up and decided it wasn't worth the effort or time to keep trying to grow them. If they listed accurate care info, on-the-other-hand, people would be more likely to buy more plants because it would become addictive - like it is when buying succulents. Anyway, this video was informative. Thank you for posting.
