    I love the way of having "clutter" everywhere in those early stage of bases. eg dead filters in some airlocks, empty cans, some not digged out well enough frames, etc. Those things only happen when its hard enough that you don't have time to focus on cleaning up the base. Stationeers is really a great game, even with all its flaws its having. And also - I find the fact, that after finally building a tool maker, Splitsie still didnt update its mining and tool belt :-)

    3:42:30 - RE cable safety, I've found that the best way to handle that is transformers. You only need two of the large transformers (which are 10 steel and 5 electrum each) to give a maximum of 100 kW allowance for a cable (each large transformer can supply up to 50 kW), and that will _completely_ prevent the wind generators from trying to provide more than 100 kW to your batteries. And as long as nothing else draws off the cable line with the wind turbines on it (ie. prior to the transformers), that also means the cable network on either side of the transformers will also not ever carry more than 100 kW of power and thus won't burn out any cabling. I use a pair of large transformers both before and after my battery bank, to limit input and output to that network to safe levels, and then small transformers (5 kW each) for step-down from my primary heavy-cable spine to secondary normal-cable networks per room/building/etc.

    What I recall from Venus: Bedrock is not that far below the surface. I think on average about 3 frames or so. So digging down for more space, as someone suggested, is possible but limited. Single walls are strong enough to withstand the outside pressure, even when you have a vacuum inside the base. Windows however, will not hold, unless you have the reinforced ones. Power wise, you might want to start sectioning off parts of the base itself, preferably colouring your cables to keep track of what's on which circuit. Same with the gas pipes, particularly when you start pumping them into and out of rooms you want to breathe in.

    According to the game files, bedrock is 5 cubes below the average surface level for Venus. Good callout on that, can't dig down much there.

    That death loop about 3 hours in - you were doing so well! It's moments like those where Stationeers drives home why astronauts go for 10,000% overkill rehearsing procedures - One lapse in concentration at the wrong time, one crucial mistake -> it's curtains! What I like is that you can have hundreds of hours in the game, yet times like that can still induce panic! - You're in a pretty good position right now though, with power for now sorted. I can see why people avoid using the traders if possible - two long sessions and no basic seed trader - oof! - Once you've got your eating room up and have enlarged the landing pad to 5 x 5, maybe you could install the medium dish for traders - that way you can track/lock two traders at once - Another thing you _might_ consider is a Cryotube near your O2 tank - Gives you somewhere central to heal your avatar that is handy to all your current airlocks - If you loop off your O2 line to a pressure regulator (101kPa) to a 'T' pipe, other long end of the T to a backpressure regulator (99kPa) and thence back to the O2 line (via an atmospherics filter to get any CO2 out), then the "tail" of the T b/w the two regulators goes to the cryotube - that should flow gas through the cryotube

    I am now glad he moved where he had the air vent to vent the furnace room. I thought I was not understanding his setup, but he admitted he had it wrong. So I felt more confident about understanding what is going on. But, then he shattered my confidence again, by putting the "empty canister" in the exact same place as he had the vent. Since it's full of hot oxygen, should it not used the same canister holder as the fuel canister extractor? -- Oh, he spotted it near the end..

    wind power follows a sine wave throughout the day, it's nothing super fancy. Small turbines generate a couple of kw with storm winds and the big ones generate 10 kw in storm wind.insulated things can neither gain nor lose heat through convection or radiation, insulation is perfect. emergency suits don't break down if they're worn. mk 2 portable tanks have a burst pressure of 20 MPa.

    As I recall there is an igniter now that you can install into a pipe which ignites the volatiles and nos in pipes

  • @KaedysKor

    @KaedysKor

    Ай бұрын

    There is, but it's rarely needed for volatiles + NOS, since that mix auto-ignites at only ~50 C, which is below the point where the furnace stops processing and thus stops offgasing ores. Volatiles + O2 is where it's a bit more handy, since that takes ~300 C to auto-ignite.

    In Venus, you have to use traders and everything else to be able to survive the first couple of days. Specially in stationeers difficult, in normal difficulty it will use less but still not enough to be able to build a run for gas, food, cooling all at the same time without any external source like traders, and specially, you don't start with the necessary resource to self sustain Venus is hot enough to smelt copper and gold, leave one furnace open to Venus atmo, and use it to smelt them and to off gas the others so the actual heated furnace don't lose to much heat. And yes, the hitbox of the Wind Turbine are wonky as fu@#. They should work fine with a grid with 1 space between, most of the time you can build, but sometimes it won't allow, some times I have to remove another entity nearby, place the turbine, then place the entity back at the exact same spot. Terrible ahhahaha Powered vents to empty large spaces, also caring a gps card you will never get lost again

    With high density atmosphere the wind does not necessarily blow faster but it has more weight, so carries more force which means wind turbines could be connected to a heavier load to produce more power. Alas, the game does not consider this.

    Would it be better to have several furnaces? encase each one with its own internal atmosphere such that it wont radiate energy? That way you could set up like a Solder and waspaloy furnace since those are low temp high pressure and have 1 be a stellite furnace where it is super hot inside its cage and the gases in it are set up to make stellite? That way you hopefully only spend the electricity a few times but afterwards your furnace stays at temp?

Open the canister in the room to air up the place. And then put the canister into a filler, and pump the air back into the canister.. And just keep repeating that process until the canister itself becomes unviable. Put the canister into the filler/emptier in the furnace room to empty it out, and then put a fresh supply of oxygen from the main tank.
