Save your money! Deity V-MIC D4 vs Deity SMIC 2S

Deity knocked it out of the park with this new D4. I have been looking for this microphone for years now. It's finally here and I am switching from my ever so trusty Rode VideoMicPro+ for my on the go mic. I love it. Thank you Deity for hooking us up!

How can one connect SMic 2s with a USB C Phone in simplest way possible, I know Smic 2 needs a Phantom 48V power & some gain thru a audio recorder, which if we record on a Camera can be made possible, but if someone wants to do a LIVE INSTAGRAM session from Mobile with this Mic 2s, Can you suggest a solution please?

Your audio recorder needs to be able to feed a line out to your phone/camera. Once you have that you should be good to go. I know the zoom h5 has this feature. I made a video about it on my instagram awhile back. @socialwithcody

Don't tie your dead cat to the back suspension, since it's then negating its ability to act as a shock mount, and absorb jitters through its free floating nature. Putting tension on it makes it more like a Rode VideoMicro's single Rycote mount.

You’re totally right. It does eliminate some of that shock movement. Thanks for the attention to detail! 👍🏼

This was the best case scenario to test out the wind protection. I’m impressed! It’s my new run and gun mic 🤙🏼

You can buy a connector but I still can’t get it to work so I guess it’s going back to Amazon

This microphone has a feature that senses when the camera is turned on and off. That way you’ll save power and don’t have to worry about turning the mic on and off every time you start to shoot. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with iPhone. I tried a couple adapters. None of them worked. It should say on the product “camera compatibility” list.

Hi Kishore, You could probably get away with using the d4 dead cat with the SMIC 2S. However the shock mount doesn’t fit both. The D4 is slightly larger in diameter. I believe Deity just recently released a new shock mount and pistol grip for the SMics. As for Running the SMIC 2S into a 3.5 you’ll need an audio recorder or some alternative power supply for the SMIC 2S to receive phantom power. For this situation I use the Zoom h5 to supply the power and receive the audio signal xlr then use the line out 3.5-a7siii. I’d recommend just using the D4 straight into the a7siii. I have used this exact combination countless times. It just depends on what you’re recording. If it’s an interview then maybe the more advanced set up is worth it. If you’re just needing an on camera shotgun mic I’d keep it simple with the D4. Hope this helps!
