nice! this was exactly what i was looking for. i was already using equalizer apo to compensate my slight hearing loss on left ear (+15dB at 12khz) and right ear (+8dB at 1-2khz) combining this with my current apo settings makes tarkov really enjoyable audiowise. i dont want to damage my hearing the older i get. gunshots in games are sometimes WAY too loud

no, i use simple source stereo sound and make the frequency curve of my headset flat with equalizerAPO + add this roughrider vst to cut off those gunshot spikes drilling holes into my ears. its better to not modify sound too much because its all messed up at the end. keep it simple but effective. @@hiddenchallenger999

I don't get why they make games where you can become deaf, I mean in any shooter you want to hear footsteps whatsoever.. so ppl turn it loud enough... But thanks for this easy guide, this might bring me back to the game.

I have mild tinnitus and play a lot of Hunt: Showdown. Hearing light footsteps is so important but the db levels get way too high sometimes. This really did the trick after a little tweaking. Much appreciated man I hope this gets more views. Gamers take care of your ears!!

Thanks for this video man! Another compressor which I think is great (and gives you a few more options as well as a visual aid) is MCompressor by Meltaproduction. I've used both and I think MCompressor might be a little better but they still both do the job.

They seem to have removed support for RoughRider3 from APO now. Cannot find the download they are redirecting to version 2 for the DLL.

When downloading the this I am not seeing rough rider dll file?

interesting test I was wondering what the EQ settings were from what we can see 1-5 is 3,2.5,2,1.25,0.5 I took a guest and tried to match the graph for 6-14 which I think is 0,0,0,0.5,1.25,2,2,1.25,0,0

Do NOT use graphical EQ on Windows 11. It is busted and your headphones will make loud noises. Use pre-amp +1 or +2 then use roughrider at whatever settings you see fit, does a good job. As of equalizer Apo 1.3 or earlier (1.3 is the latest as of this comment)

I can't get this to work. It doesn't do anything, even when I bump up the static gain reduction to very high levels. I feel like I've tried everything. Any tips?

yup. there is "troubleshooting" mode when you select devices in "Configuration". You need to select other than default (there are 3 of them, I don't remember which one is right one in your case)

Make sure u restart your PC after u installed EQ APO.. Should work after u restart your pc!

You see on the bottom left corner in apo there's Analysis panel and inside it below Estimated properties you'll see peak gain and when you click ok on rr3 with his settings or yours where you have a eq with preamp of some value in my case i use hyperx cloud alpha and i've a -6.60 of preamp with some eq and when i click ok that peak gain gets lower to some value which obviously means that with more negative peak gain you've less audio and to counter that he has a huge preamp above plugin this happened with me as well. I went in the plugin and saw the ratio and i was stumped on what it is so i thought of playing with it and changed it to 2:1 and it lowered my peak gain to -26 or something so i put it back on 4:1 which gave me -18 peak gain so i had to put a +15 preamp above the plugin i might change the ratio to something that makes the peak not go soo low but it might add some unneeded effect!? idk honestly, will have to try it out i guess.

I have tried to get this into Equalizer APO but I can't figure how to get it in there as a Dll. Nothing opens in the roughrider folder even though I've extracted it

You use the Roughrider setup to install a folder called Vstplugins. That is where the Dll is, the one you need to plug into Equalizer APO.

Restart PC after you've installed EQ Apo and it should work if u do the exact same steps he did! 100%. To test it put a white sound and then switch ON or OFF the VST plugin

Open program files, scroll to Steinberg -vst plugins -audio damage it should be in there

After adding Preamplification the voice channels in discord get loud aswell, i guess that it increases the volume. Can i disable it? since my base audio is already high enough

@@buckZorYou only need 1. They cancel each other out if both are turned on in this example. I use about a 12dB gain - but I also have a DAC amp I can use to adjust volume as well.
