Save MONEY With This Groundbait Advice! | Fishing Tips

We are all watching the £££s in 2022 and I see anglers on a weekly basis throwing perfectly good groundbait in the bin after a match!
I wanted to show you EXACTLY how much usable groundbait you ACTUALLY get to allow you to make an informed decision on how much to mix up before the start!
Welcome to my channel - Match Fishing Films! I’m Joe Carass and this channel was one of the first aimed at match fishing and I think I’ve produced some great fishing content over the past several years.
I have been fortunate to work in the angling trade for over a decade now and started working on Match Fishing Magazine in 2010. This eventually lead to becoming the Editor of the magazine. This was a fantastic stage of life and I got to work with and learn from the very best match anglers around. Anglers such as Steve Ringer, Alan Scotthorne, Will Raison, Lee Kerry, Bob Nudd, Rob Wootton and many many more!
My next role and current occupation is working as a videographer for tackle giant PRESTON INNOVATIONS & SONUBAITS!
This has been a revelation in my life and I now not only get to film with Des Shipp, Andy Findlay, Andy Power, Michael Buchwalder, Lee Kerry to name just a few! But I also get to work on the product development side of things. This means working closely with the product development team the help give constructive input into some amazing products!
My primary focus with the channel is to produce light-hearted and informative fishing videos that give you some genuine advice to help you catch more fish. Match fishing and match fishing techniques are the main focus but more recently I’ve also been enjoying some tremendous river fishing for specimen sized chub and perch!
This wide range of fishing techniques and styles mean there really is something for everyone to enjoy on my channel :)

Great video Joe - was on the supercrush expander at the weekend, used half a bag and still had 50% of what I mixed up left over. A continued plea though back to the packaging team - resealable bags would make a huge difference to both overall waste, and importantly spillage in the car/house of ground bait and pellets.

Unfortunately our bagging machine doesn't work with the resealable bags (when sonu had those it was a much smaller business and they were actually filled by hand!)

@@MatchFishingFilms Thanks for that - lets hope when those machines are end-of-life and are replaced that there are some more environmentally conscious options considered, as well as re-usuable/resealable. Far too much plastic waste in both Sonubaits and Preston packaging.

Hi Joe, great video and good mixing advice 👍,Here's a little SONUBAITS tip I've found out recently, the pro feed expanders are the best expanders ever no pumping anymore but the bags once opened can get a bit oily, I now use an empty Bait Booster bottle and a full bag a of expanders fits in the bottle perfectly and it's environmentally friendly using the empty Booster bottle 👍

I would never mix all the groundbait. Usually I'm preparing small part around 200-300gr and see how my fishing is going. If the fish doesn't react to the food, then I don't mix anymore and think about changing position, or the food, or the tactic...

Eight quid a bag does sound a lot (especially when it was six quid not long ago) but like Joe says, that 2kg goes a long way. I also remember paying £4 a kilo for the first fishmeal groundbaits when they came out twenty odd years ago (Sillybait and Crazybait Gold) so actually in real terms it's cheaper. Sadly the price hikes on everything is something we'll have to get used to for a bit 😕

I dread to think what that would be! The price of timber we need for work is rising outrageously - the cost of some plywood we use went up £30 per sheet not too long ago! I've heard various things from suppliers about shipping costs rising five or six fold in a year or so - nobody can absorb all that cost.

Interesting video Joe although I always thought it was 2 pints of water for 2kg of groundbait, not 2 litres of waters (that's 3.5 pints)? I always get a perfect mix of F1 dark and Thatchers (2kg in total) using 2 pints of water 🤷‍♂️

Fact is groundbait and pellet prices are getting out of hand but putting it 2KG only was a bad move there are anglers out there that simply can't afford £7.99 a bag I'm lucky i have a good job but not everybody has a job groundbait should also be available in 1KG Bags for people who can't afford £7.99,good video joe seriously angling is pricing anglers out of the sport,

Not being funny but if you can’t afford a bag of groundbait then you probably can’t afford to go fishing period. If money is so tight then look no further than bread, sweetcorn, luncheon meat etc. You don’t have to have groundbait to catch.

Works every time. Bag of frozen sweetcorn and lots of other things to try,(Chick peas, dead maggots etc,.)

Not the case. 2kg of some gb doesn't well up anywhere near as much as this. Green fishmeal that we do for instance doesn't swell very much.
