Your feeder bug videos were always my favorite happy to see another one! 😊
I recently got my baby, Mimi, from an expo. I’m thankful for your videos, they’ve been a great source of information and inspiration. I hope you have a wonderful day/night. 🦎💖🌈

Aww thank you so much, that really means a lot ❤ Good luck with Mimi!
I don't think you need to transfer the beetles from the green coloured tray to a different one. They are supposed to stay on the same tray and lay eggs. Once the eggs hatch out, baby mealworms will automatically drop to the white tray right beneath it.
FANTATSIC VIDEO! Love how you are using our pods and have been a day one support! 😁💚🐛

Thank you for explaining how it all goes together! We've been thinking of getting something like this to breed live treats for our crested gecko.
Sadly my garg has no interest in bugs, but if I ever get a leopard gecko (which I hope to one day) this seems really convenient and fun honestly!

Good video. Is the plastic fairly sturdy or flimsy? It looks like it might crack easily. Unique idea for keeping beetles in one container and simply moving them to another container to start a new colony.
I had a tub of mealworms that would breed and I would feed them to my leo for several years but all of a sudden they all just started to die off and I’ve had to rethink everything I’m doing. I might try this to see if it works better
Feel like it's been too long since I've been a dedicated viewer, but I wanted to pop in and say thank you! I got my leo Apollo at 1 month old and your channel was instrumental in educating me regarding reptile care. He turns 5 this year 🥹

I don't want to trash the company, but this is so much extra work for mealworms. You throw them in a shoebox sized bin or larger on oatmeal and feed them veggie scraps and boom, you've got a mealworm breeder. Work smarter, not harder.

Thanks for this! I will be getting 6 geckos and I have been considering buying this. But I was wondering whether this is actually neccessary.
People sell walmart platic cabinets drawers for undergarmets as the same thing like this but it fits better and the smell isnt as bad incase you live in a hotter climate there are vidoes on DIY and its way cheaper
I didn't intend to breed mealworms but I now have an active breeding colony in my cresties viv lol. No separate container need lol

Ive been all over the arcadia website you listed under a video, you cant buy lights it is just info, any idea why and where to get them?
Hi do you use earthmix or earthmix arid with the mealworms??
I suggest wearing a mask when sifting through mealworms. It helps me inhale less allergens in the dust. It is worth it. Also you could change your shirt after as well, just to be safe. And or course you could wear gloves, and remember to wash your hands.
@leopardgeckotalk
Жыл бұрын
Yeah might have to do that. I know before a channel I used to watch would always have to handle them with gloves, fortunately I think for me it was mainly the dirt lol
@realbrooklyn2093
Жыл бұрын
@@leopardgeckotalk Yes, when I am sifting through my mealworms I always wear a mask because all their bin dust gets into the air. I used to not wear a mask but then I would sneeze a lot after sorting mealworms. Mask = no congestion.
Inside a small container I bought from a petstore, I have many Superworms that are awake 24/7. I often hear loud noises coming from the container in the middle of the night, which keeps me up. Is there a way to stop this?
I keep my mealworms and Discoid roaches in a very large plastic container with the substrate being Milled Oats. Feed them a couple time s a week, and keep the temp to 82*F No issue with proliferation. There's too many to feed one Leopard Gecko.

I am still traumatised from the mites to go back to oats haha, but sounds like you're doing well :)
I was wondering im I’m the USA so I can’t get earth mix arid do you still think eco earth will be good for him
@nightinggale6470
Жыл бұрын
Eco earth is not a suitable substrate. It’s unnatural, dusty when dry, potentially hard on their joints (consistency is too loose), doesn’t hold burrows, etc. A soil/sand or soil/sand/clay mix would be ideal. You can also use terra Sahara from the bio dude.
does this bug factory plan on doing some similar setup for crickets? im very tired of getting crickets in poor health every week for a high price at my local petco. and i dont want to try to breed crickets in the setup i currently have

cool and useful vid. I need your help. My gecko just lost her appetite. its has happened again but that is not the problem. am about to leave for a 4 day training trip in Geneva Switzerland for and she hadn't eaten anything for a week. I have my mom here but she is old and the only thing she can do when I am away is to change a water bowl. do you have any idea on how to make her eat ? am leaving in 5 days, its a really important college trip and I cant miss it.

Have you tried feeding her different worms or maybe crickets
@kazzie2935
Жыл бұрын
You could use an escape proof feeding dish, I use exo-terra. Put a dozen dusted mealworms in the dish, put dish where your gecko will find it, if they are hungry they will help themselves, you will know how many your gecko has eaten by what remains in the dish.
Grain mites do not just appear. Your bran/substrate has to already be infected with their eggs. As long as you freeze the substrate, ideally for a few days, there should be next to no risk of grain mites. Yes, moisture can cause their population to explode if your colony has them, but if you take the proper precautions, there is no issue. I typically buy 25lb bags of bran. I had an issue with grain mites last year, and that was due to my laziness and not properly preparing the substrate.

Ah I see. Yeah I pretty much had to disinfect the entire room, throw out all the oats and what not, this was just a few days before christmas, absolute nightmare.

@@leopardgeckotalk 100% agree. They are not a fun critter to find. It is interesting to see the different methods people use to raise these critters. I specialize in guides for them, and to be honest I've never seen that substrate used before. Have you noticed any changes in your mealworm yields?
Could you link the substrate you use? Could I just use aspen snake bedding? Is there any substrate I shouldn’t be using (other than what you mentioned in the video)?

Huh, did not know one could react to mealworms/morias and that might explain a thing or two for me and my colony….plan on kinda try to downsize them a bit this year somehow ( my biggest wormlover is in burmation atm and my geckos find them ‘tasty, but not our fav…where is that roach human?’ 😂 useful info and wouldn’t mind using something like it, tho live in Sweden and we ain’t got a big arsenal when it comes to keep feeders at home ( unless it’s diy…plenty go that route) so yah 😅)

ooo I need to do that, hopefully I have enough entries 🙈
I will have the mealworms in my appartment, and I am really worried there will be a smell. I realise this product is overpriced and that one-container method would work just fine, but if this prevents any kind of odour, it might just be worth it. Thoughts, anyone?
RANDOM TIP Sometimes if your feeding your leopard gecko a locust (idk if i spelt that right but who cares) you can pull its back legs off to stop it running and jumping as much hope this helps:)
I think people don’t realise that you don’t even need to separate beetles and mealworms in order to breed them. Unless you need huge amounts there will be plenty enough offspring from just keeping them together.
@leopardgeckotalk
Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think the only risk is sometimes if the beetles are left hungry they can eat the pupae or mealworms.
How to clean a leopard gecko terrarium
They look like a cool idea But are so costly it almost nulls them out tbh i can buy a whole tub of morio worms for like £3. and breed them in a £1.99 draw set... i know its about sustainability etc but so expensive.. also be careful with your mealworm allergy it has been known to develop into anaphylactic reactions from over exposure if you got an accidental cloud of the dust while cleaning them etc can make you very ill
@leopardgeckotalk
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I mean I'm just grateful they reached out and asked me to try them, but of course there are always alternatives :). Yeah I think the dust/soil cloud really irritated my nose, but an antihistamine helped :)
Please be careful with your allergies. I know it's not common but some people can get worse allergies as time goes on. So you might want to start wearing a max if you are allergic to the worms and the dirt and wash your hands after handling them. I know personally I am allergic to mold and breakout into hives within minutes of coming into contact with mold. So when I get my paludarium set up, i have to be extra careful and make sure to wear gloves and a mask when dealing with the enclosure if a mold outbreak happens.
$137... its super cool but in no world could I justify that price tag
