My Thinx period underwear has lasted me six years so far and is still in pretty good condition. I would say it's much more durable than the cheaper regular underwear that I've bought.

My reusable tea strainers/bags get so much use it's almost embarrassing *sweat drop* I also love the library with my entire heart. Especially since my county's at least has e-books you can rent and return online. So you don't even have to go in if you don't want to (excellent during pandemic). I have also always hated shopping. So that's probably helped avoid over consumption, but it does make it harder to convince myself to buy things that will help in the long run (reusable period products, replacing low-efficiency products, etc.) I also love my local CSA for getting local food and supporting local farmers. I would like it if there were more sustainable supplement packing as I drill through vitamin D in the winter.

Honestly loose leaf tea is awesome. So is the library. I do still buy books but when I'm done reading them I give them to my friends that also like to read. Never understood why someone would throw away books.

As a chronic sinusitis/allergy sufferer, hankies have definitely blessed my nose 😄 Fabric can be so much softer than paper. And it's also more durable, which is nice not only for the waste&cost reduction but mere convenience, too. It really adds up when the use is constant! I still use the paper version in public etc, but prefer hankies at home. Also, I have recently been really fascinated about all the things you can clean with regular dish soap! Dunno if anyone knows her but the youtuber Aurikatariina speaks a lot about it on her videos! I now have a separate dish soap bottle just for cleaning purposes. Feels great whenever I can reduce the amount of chemicals I use around the house. Unscented dish soap is very mild even in comparison to pine soap, which has previously been my allround cleaning product. Now I use it only for the inside the toilet bowl, drains, oven and other particularly nasty spots.

honestly, and save a ton of money in the long run! so true on the durability :)

One additional shower trick I use to save energy is that I like to slowly turn the water cooler as I shower. I live in the desert though so… I dunno how comfortable that would be for people in cooler climates. Also you can adjust your water heater to a cooler setting as well (which is also a child safety recommendation).

I love my library card. They have ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines to download. It is free and there is a good selection. During Covid I planted vegetables in addition to flowers. My small garden produces a lot and something in all seasons. Compost all my kitchen waste. You can find anything you need thrifting if you are patient. I save money on hair products by washing less often. It's good for your hair which produces less oil as it adapts. A dryer turns clothing into lint over time. Thank you for the good ideas.

With the gas prices currently getting higher, biking is definitely a must. Just yesterday I biked to the grocery store and it feels super great to get a bit of a workout ❤️ Plus, I’m limited to the amount of groceries I can buy, since I only have a backpack with me.

There is this really cool app called resQ, where restaurants and bakeries can put a notice that they have some "leftover" food and you can buy it with a discount meaning that you get cheaper food and prevent it from being thrown away I am not sure if it operates just in Finland, but if it does I'm sure there is something similar in other countries

I despise to the bone-marrow air fresheners. They give me such a headache and are such a waste of money. Also, sometimes I definitely forget that other people still use items I have stopped using for years. Such as paper towels, separate cleaners for every room and surface, ziploc bags, and so many other things. It’s kind of funny, I have refused plastic grocery bags for like 2 items and people act kind of offended that you don’t want one.

Yessss our reusable k-cup has been used well! (the top broke and we still use it) I also have a french press that I looooove when I'm making bigger batches. Plus I'm lucky enough to have access to package free coffee beans where I live :) You are the reason I started catching grey water btw! Thank you for opening my eyes to that!

I exclusively buy meat from the clearance section of my local grocery store. I still do the usual safety checks (like if the wrapping is inflated, it’s probably not a great idea to get it due to bacteria buildup), and I usually save about 50% on my meat purchases, then freeze what I won’t use in the next couple of days. I’ve also lucked out in finding Beyond Meat in the clearance section the last few times I’ve been.

Libby is the best!! I used thrift books to buy most of my college textbooks. They are a great resource for college kids after I finished my textbook I would pass it to the next person in the class. Both Libby and thrift books are life savers

We love hand me downs 😁☺️😁, it is especially useful if you have kids. We got from my niece and nephew and have passed down to friends and little cousins. I love my period cup 👏👏👏🥰. I tried the solid shampoo, but since I have dandruff it didn't work for me. I do a lot of the things you mentioned 👍☺️. Great video, thank you 👏👏👏😁

I fully switched to reusables a year & half ago after slowly building my collection the previous year. Not only are they more comfortable, I love that I am no longer tossing "necessary" plastic in the trash every month. While I agree that in the long term reusable period products saves money I don't understand the comparisons saying people spend as much as $10 per month or two on disposables. I would buy a $8 box of pads that would last me 3mos, meaning my estimated savings over a lifetime is less than $1000 (yes still significant I know). So the comparisons saying you can save up to $5000 in your lifetime seem beyond excessive. Am I in the minority here?

I have the Aldi coffee pod machine. Last year I bought 4 stainless steel reusable pods for AUD$140. Yes, it's dearer upfront but no waste and far cheaper as I only buy ground or coffee beans less than half price sales.

Hey, on saving water, have you looked into those kinds of faucets that use a pedal? I currently live in Italy and I've seen them in several places here! I figure you should be able to plug one in at home, but I don't know the specifics of it. Worth checking out perhaps?

foot pedal control works great in my bathroom. Sticky hands dont' touch the controls... which are usually set TOOOOO DANG close to the wall to clean behind them. Frustrating!!! They save water by being able to pick up your foot when you have enough water.. and not get soap on the control of hand valves. )))

i'm boucing between a few local options right now

i don’t know what to do about food waste in my family. there’s eight of us so it’s very hard to meal prep- we eat the whole fridge’s worth in a week lol, plus I am the only vegeterian in the family and there’s more impact from their meat. I tried reusing scraps like egg shels for plants, but we eat a lot of eggs so it’s very hard. and also there’s a lot of prepaired meals out of wich some amount goes bad bcs it’s hard to keep track around all the food. anyways any advice?😭

i grew up in a big family so i get you. In that case, I say rotate food or have a designated "this needs eaten ASAP" section of the fridge/pantry so everyone knows what to grab first!

Catching gray water... this is something I've heard of, but haven't tried yet. When you talk about using it to water your landscaping and plants and what not, doesn't that water have soap in it? Wouldn't that be bad for the plants? I haven't looking into this yet.
