    It's good to see someone on you tube that is not too proud to admit a mistake. Everybody makes a mistake with a scope. But at the end, it was a perfect grouping. In closing, you have a beautiful rifle and keep the videos coming.

    As noted already, when resting the barrel on the foam rest, you are putting upward pressure on the barrel. Next time rest the stock on the foam rest and you will have much better results

    Congrads on the new savage 22 mag. I just bought the savage A22 magnum, its a tack driver. I like to shoot off of sandbags that I make by putting sand in a heavy plastic bag then put that inside a bag made from the leg of old jeans. my gf sews one end shut then drop in the bag of sand and close the other end with a ty - wrap. Happy shottin and thanks for sharing.

    I own this rifle with a Redfield optic on it. It is so accurate, and holds its accuracy perfectly. It is my coyote/hog hunting rifle, I have shot 19 coyotes and 6 hogs on my families ranch over the past 2 years with this thing. Drops them every time. I can shoot a 1inch group of 5 from 100 yards with mine, its crazy accurate.

    You keep getting erratic groups because you are allowing the barrel to rest on the fome rest. At 25 yards that rife will shoot a 1/4 inch group. It would be more noticeable at 100 yards.

    Who-Tee-Who, that rifle is a very good shooter. You could have shot even a better three shot group if you had rested the front of the stock on the foam instead of the barrel. One more advice, try bore sighting to save some ammo adjusting the scope. Good luck and keep'm coming those fun videos.

    I would like to recommend you more efficient scope zeroing method. For this you will need shooting stand or something to keep riffle in the fixed position. Shoot 2 bullets, mark holes with high visible sticker dots, watch trough scope and put center of scope on that dots (holes) by dialing wind-height knobs. Shoot 2 more bullets to check adjustment. That is all, only important is to keep rifle in the fixed position all the time in the processes.

  • @cyberfox981

    @cyberfox981

    That can be very practical when you need to zeroed high caliber rifles with much more expensive ammo then rimfire, here in Chile just one bullet in cal. 308 can be 3-4 USD =/

    Scope sighting *can* be a PITA (not the bread) sometimes! 1. *ALWAYS* shoot 3 or 5 shot groups between adjustments to compensate for human and ammo errors....adjust from the center of the group. 2. *ALWAYS* count your clicks on the adjustment knobs. They usually are 1/4 or 1/2 MOA (inch at 100yrds) adjustments. 3. If possible (usually on bolt guns) set the rifle in a stable rest, remove the bolt and *LOOK* down the barrel and then *without* moving the rifle, look through the scope before starting to send rounds (kind of a visual bore sighting) to get you close....for free. 😉👍

  • @ArpOutdoors

    @ArpOutdoors

    Жыл бұрын

    The bore sighting definitely works, I usually wait until night and do it from inside my house with a street light. Pick one 50ish away and line the barrel up then set the scope to match and you’ll be very close every time

    @@markc6207 They definitely hold their own in the accuracy department. Im not sure how well the Axis series shoots, but their 10/110 is excellent. The savage stevens 200 rifles are accurate too. Also, easy to upgrade them to better stocks. Havent been able to get myself to buy a Axis or a Ruger American rifle, not that they are bad, but not a lot more and you can sometimes have a better rifle if watch for the deals, especially on the used market. They are still tempting though. Maybe if Ruger makes a gen 2 style stock for their Ruger A rifles, then I might have to give one a try. The gen 2 axis stock feels better.

Has as much power at 100 yards as a .22 long rifle at the muzzle. Great day and night hunting gun for small and medium game year round. Not near as loud as a .223 and plenty of killing power. Quick and dirty scope adjust, shoot a group,, hold point of aim, then while looking through scope adjust reticle to point of impact. This will save tons of time chasing your zero and save ammo too.

    As the others said, don't rest your barrel on the bag, put your forearm on it. You don't want anything touching your barrel as it messes with your barrel harmonics and you shooting. Good video though, keep it up.

    I have a Savage 93 in Stainless with a bull barrel and 3 x 9 Bushnell (Combo set from factory) and it is by far my best back yard varminter. The clicks are indicated for 100 yds on the scope, which means 4x the clicks at 25 yards. I hold a good group at 85 yards (2 inches) where I sighted in on a bench without rest. Changing ammo brands from Win Super X to CCI moved the point of impact by one inch to the left, and 2 inches high. Dialed it back in for them. Have taken out rabbits, woodchucks, porcupines, and beavers with it. Great gun at a great price (333.00 new, with bore sighted scope) A gun I will never sell, since it is perfect for my purposes.

    Both of the .22 magnum rifles I have owned were 10 ring shooters at 100 yards. The Remington I did have I do believe had a better barrel and was extremely accurate but it was a semi-auto and it was to easy to burn to much ammo. I now have a bolt action Ruger I very much like and have a wonderful time shooting chucks at long ranges for a .22.

    I've been considering adding one of these or the newer B22 magnum to the collection as a survival rifle. Bolt action so simple and reliable, 22 mag is powerful enough without destroying small game...seems like a logical choice. How are the Barska scopes? I've never used one. I've been liking the Nikon scopes lately but usually shoot with Vortex scopes.

    You will buy more Savage rifles now! Savage rifles tack drive, even the cheap axis rifles are super accurate. I just bought the same rifle in stainless and can’t wait to go shoot it. I had a marlin 22wmr before and it was a not so great shooting rifle out of the box and I returned it. The savage will be the one!

    Just got mine home to day first 5 shots at 30 yd. covered with a dime, but low left so centered it up, but was too cold for me my group opened up a bit, it is - 7 C hear so will try 50 yd when it warms up some. My bench is frozen to the ground. so could not move it back. I was not using a rest just holding on the bench. I love Savages they all shoot great wright out of the box no mods necessary, and great triggers. You will do much better if you do not rest the barrel on the pad. It is free floating for a reason.

    Each square on a target is 1" so you're shooting 4.25" high & 2" right. That barska scope is 1/4"/click @50 yrds might be @100. 22 mags are fun and accurate to shoot. The Marlin 22wmr has a smoother action with a similar rifle design. As far as the cz brand in the same caliber i can't speak for. Never shot nor owned a cz. The ruger 22mag has far better build & action quality. All 3 of these(savage, marlin, ruger) i own. All 3 are accurate as can be with similar or identical scopes. 1 runs a barska the other 2 run bsa sweet 22. In closing: you did good on picking up that sweet 22mag.
