    By far the best rifle I have ever had. Mine is a 260rem too and I'm pushing the 147gr ELDM at 2801fps with 45.5gr of 4831sc and its a half minute load that's supersonic to almost 1600 yards at sea level. Love this rifle.

    Man I thought I watched all the videos I missed this one. I shoot a lot but watching you is a whole new level. Look at the no jerk no flinch no eye twitch shooting. Has to be from hundreds of thousands of rounds. I’m in the thousands of rounds and still find my self having a eye twitch!! Good for you.

    This video and the article you wrote hugely influenced my decision to purchase a savage 12LRP . I love the gun, as you stated it is a bit heavy for hunting but that is what I use it for and have obtained 1/2 MOA with both factory loads and 143eldx hand loads. Appreciate you sharing your perspectives and experience. Thanks

    I got one of these in 6.5 Creed, mounted in a MDT ESS chassis. Using Nosler 140 grn RDF bullets its a hell of an accurate rifle out to 1K yds, yet to try it further - but will in time.

    I picked one up in 6.5 Creedmoor, slightly used for $700, and put a cheap Bushnell Elite fixed 10X on it. My first batch of reloads with 142 gr. Sierras and Varget had shots touching at 200 yds. I need a better scope and a longer range.

    i have the savage LRPV in 6 mm norma br. The difference is mine is a single shot (no mag). So far I love the rifle and my intent is to get my loads worked up and go out and shoot with the benchrest crowd. It's wearing a Leupold 36 X fixed power scope. One of the downside to this caliber is if you are not a reloader, forget buying ammo.

    I had this exact gun in 6.5 creedmoor but traded it to a Bergara HMR to have a lighter gun for an all purpose rifle. I loved shooting it and it was super accurate. Some of my best groups ever where shot with that gun. Only difference was the stock. Mine was more flat at the butt

    Hey Sam, just curious. I see the name of your channel, panhandlers precision and I noticed the snow and pine trees. I put two and two together, there is no snow in Oklahoma or Florida, plus the pine trees. So, I'm wondering if you're in Idaho. I live in Idaho Falls, just wondering. I like your channel a lot. Great info. I've been struggling to get a Remington 700 in 6mm Rem to shoot. Intending to take it after deer if I can find a load. I'm trying some 100 grain Nosler Partitions hopefully in the morning if there's no wind.

    I tried both Bergers in my 7WSM. Of the two, I would use the 168s. I think it has a better balance of weight/impact velocity for terminal performance. I still run 162 AMAXs in mine, though. They work very well!

How's the recoil and muzzle jump on the 260 REM and what would you compare it to?

    26" barrel... do you have any input if this length holds up in long range competition? I heard Todd Hodnett once say he liked short stiff barrels vs long unless of course there was a velocity you were trying to acquire. You have any experience or heard input from others that their groups opened up? thanks

  • @PanhandlePrecision

    This barrel is stiff enough that it would probably shoot well at 30"! All of my long range guns have 26" to 30" tubes. Some of my carrying-weight rifles are 22" and 24". The only good reason I could think of to cut down a perfectly good shooting 26" barrel is to screw on a suppressor.

    What the Savage offers is a lot of value in performance. Just the McMillan A3 stocks on my other rifles cost what the entire Savage does. The biggest difference between the LRP and my custom 260 is the LRP shoots just about everything well and a couple loads extremely well (so far). My custom 260 shot everything extremely well!

    Great video btw. I was wondering what velocities are you getting out of the rifle? I am running H4350 with the Hornady ELD Match 140gr bullets with 41.5gr of powder and averaging 2710fps in my Savage 12 LRP in 260 Rem. Is this a good average for this caliber? The max load on Hodgons site for the H4350 lists a max load of 42.0gr. I have loaded up to 42.3 with no pressure signs and was wondering what your max load you have ran to get good accuracy? I shoot a lot of 3x600's and 3x1000's in moderate to higher winds so I am looking to get the most speed and accuracy I can without burning the throat of my barrel to much.

  • @PanhandlePrecision

    @PanhandlePrecision

    With H4350 I'm getting 2840 fps from Berger 140 Hybrids and 3020 fps from 130 Hybrids. I'm using Remington brass, CCI BR2s, seating .010" off the lands. Both loads are 44.0 grains. With Lapua brass, I'd run 42.5 grains. My LRP barrel runs about 50 fps faster than any other 260 Rem I've had with the same barrel length.

    Hi, I’m a KZread subscriber and would greatly appreciate your help with this. I am a shooter/reloader with a little over 3 years experience, so still a newbie/amateur. I have really enjoyed getting into long range shooting and have been able to shoot out to 880 yards locally and getting 0.5-0.75” groups at 100 yard with 6.5 Creedmoor Savage reloaded ammo. I’m looking to upgrade my long range rifle with a budget of up to $2,200. Current setup... RIFLE: Savage 10T in 6.5 Creedmoor (5R barrel, no break) with a Bradley cheek rest. SCOPE: SWFA SS Fixed 10x MRAD/MRAD REST/BIPOD: shooting bags SHOOTING STYLE: Benchrest (want something can shoot PRS/benchrest competition in the future) Contenders: $750-2,000 Tikka T3 CTR/Varmint (upgrade stock to KRG Bravo) Bergara Premier Series: Ridgeback/LRP Elite/HMR Pro $2,000-2,200 Badrock South Fork (Defiance Action) MPA BA PMR Competition Havak Bravo by Seekins Precision John Hancock by PVA (ARC Nucleus Action) Daniel Defense DELTA 5 Also open to purchasing a barreled action, ex. PVA sells a ARC Nucleus barreled action or a Howa 1500 BA and putting in a stock/chassis. Not a deal breaker, but I would like to have the ability to change out barrels or adjust headspace myself to improve brass life/accuracy (length of jump to lands & bullet seating). Buying at the $2k/under seems ideal if I want to also have the option later compete in Production class PRS Competitions. I routinely check GunBroker for good deals and used rifles. I’m not in a rush to buy something by any deadline but I was hoping to get some advice and tips for what would be the best platform. I know Remington 700 footprint would give me the most options for aftermarket/extras. Open to any suggestions/advice and won’t take offense. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE!
