If the cops want to tow the vehicle, let them and the tow company that they are going to need to have a surety bond of whatever the car is valued at. The insurance that the tow company is only going to be a $1 million dollar cargo policy unless they pay for additional coverage. Take the DOT/ICC number off the truck and search for the website for their commercial insurance surety.

LOL - rule #1 - never let a nice car go to impound, it will not come back the same. You can make all the claims in the world, your odds of success will be near zero. Officers' word in court goes very far. Rare parts are difficult to find and expensive even on the off chance you get a settlement. By the time you deduct lawyer fees, you will still be far behind - they have lawyers on staff and a deny all claims policy. Never let the car go to impound - let them release it to someone else if at all possible.

First of all, most cargo policies are in the $50-250k range. Not $1mm. The total liability is typically between $1 and $5MM, but that won't cover damage to vehicles. Second of all, no one gives a shit about you or your fancy car, so no one is going to listen to you or get a surety bond for your specific car.

@@JDMz 99% of the time the cameras are basic 720p webcam quality, they won't be able to get plates or even an accurate visual. Second, the camera is on their chest, not on the cop car lol. Third, plausible deniability is a legal term for a reason, if you can deny using common sense you win.
