Darren is one of those rare musicians who doesn't just sing music, but makes you feel it and believe every word. He has a way about him that locks you in. I don't know of many musicians, especially these days, who can do that. It takes a true artist/musician to make you feel and not just hear music. I get chills during the sign language part...that man is so intense.

He is deeply person. I noticed in many songs he sings about single mom with kids running away from tough husband and that staffs Later reading about him I realized, he is trawmatized in childhood, he told about how his further hurt him and his mother. His songs about pain and love I belive he is the thing what he sings about Some bad people hates gays, but they dont know or know how bad are they themselfs Darren has a big heart

This song came out when I was a Sophomore in HS, and this was the time when I was self harming to cope. Whenever I heard this song I cried so hard because I had no one who would catch me when I fell. This song, along with later The Fray's "How To Save A Life", later after I stopped harming, became my songs I would emulate when I saw people who needed to talk. Though I have no one myself now, this song is in my "Find Faith" playlist because I am still lonely, but now am strong.

this came out when I was 4 and I thought the video was creepy now being 20 i would have never guessed how much a simple childhood song would mean to me in all the right ways now I'm old enough to understand the llyrics, story, and video and helped me when I felt all alone and the world has turned its back on me.

"Communicate any way, any how". ---So true. As a person who lost his hearing in the prime age of 35, this little statement at the end of the video packs quite a punch, as well as Mr. Hayes sign language display for the final verse. He's including us all here, and telling us to break down the barriers of communication that hold us back & isolate us....whether it be deafness, misunderstanding, ignorance, or even racism,...break em down, communicate, break out of the box. There IS safety in numbers.

When you feel all alone And the world has turned its back on you Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you It’s hard to find relief and people can be so cold When darkness is upon your door and you fell like you can’t take anymore Let me be the one you call If you jump I’ll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash then crash & burn You’re not alone When you feel all alone And a loyal friend is hard to find You’re caught in a one way street With the monsters in your head When hopes and dreams are far away and You feel like you can’t face the day Let me be the one you call If you jump I’ll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash then crash & burn You’re not alone

So I turned into a hard core rock and roll fan. I found this song like 3 years ago & haven't heard it in like 2 years. Now that I saw that it was on my Ipod, I played it and feel in love with it once again. Even though I'm more of a metal or rock person, I can still listen to music like this. Oh, & I remember the lyrics, exactly, from when I looked 'em up 3 years ago.

This song always manages to make me feel better. And the music video adds even more to that. The images are strange, but it almost seems like it's saying "No matter how strange or different or alone you think you are, there are those out there that will understand you." It's a very strong message. You don't see much of this in today's popular music (or this particular genera)

Weequay2, I'll never forget the feeling of walking into my first Deaf meetup group that first week I lost the hearing and just watching all the people "fluttering their hands" just like you describe....it was extremely surreal and the total feeling of being dropped onto another planet is the best way to describe it. Everybody was signing and nobody speaking....so I know exactly how you must have felt watching them. I wish I could sign as fast as the "culturally" Deaf do!
