That stock looks like my magpul X22 backpacker and does it come with it or did you have to get it aftermarket? Second does it use Ruger 10/22 magazines?
@scotteger6271
Жыл бұрын
The stock is new, as is the rifle, for Savage. It’s the stock that comes with it and it does not take 10/22 mags. The Savage mags are similar, 10-round rotary, but they’re proprietary to Savage. Butler Creek also makes 25-round mags for the A-22.
@patnoble1914 Жыл бұрын
I am a little confused which is not unusual. Are you saying that the zero moved a quarter to half inch after you broke down the rifle? is that to be expected every time ?
@scotteger6271
Жыл бұрын
Yes the zero point can move because the barrel was removed and the scope is mounted to the receiver. That’s why there are scour type mounts for the Ruger, which mount an optic to the barrel, thus not causing a zero shift. The only downside to the Ruger scout style mount is, you’d have to pick an optic that isn’t dependent on eye relief, like a red dot. The shift is minimal…I had a Ruger takedown for years with a red dot on it and it reliably and repeatedly hit targets after disassembly/reassembly.

@@shawnschaitel838 what’s your point? I was making an observation. I mentioned nothing about the price. I like Savage and I like this A22 takedown…that said I do wish it was like the Magpul backpacker where the barrel clips into the rear of the stock instead of being two separate pieces.

.....Savage 64 takedown
What is the length to pull on it? That's why I don't have a Ruger 10/22 cuz it's too short in the stock for me. I don't feel comfortable with it. And do you have to really put your head down heavy duty to get to the iron sights like they did when they first came out with in the first ones? That's all I got to ask. That's all I got to say about this. Good to see you back on the channel. I hope you enjoyed your turkey

Very reasonable price.

Prefer how Volquartsen design their takedown requiring no twisting on the barrel section.
Remington nylon 22 for the win. Lol

That stock looks like my magpul X22 backpacker and does it come with it or did you have to get it aftermarket? Second does it use Ruger 10/22 magazines?
@scotteger6271
Жыл бұрын
The stock is new, as is the rifle, for Savage. It’s the stock that comes with it and it does not take 10/22 mags. The Savage mags are similar, 10-round rotary, but they’re proprietary to Savage. Butler Creek also makes 25-round mags for the A-22.
I am a little confused which is not unusual. Are you saying that the zero moved a quarter to half inch after you broke down the rifle? is that to be expected every time ?
@scotteger6271
I have a Savage 64a. LoL
Would you choose this one over the Ruger 10/22 takedown?
@scottyV1000

@The Revolver Den Agreed, with Ruger the stock rifle is just a starting point especially if you’ve discovered Tandem Cross.
@scotteger6271

I’ve owned both and here’s what I’ll say…the Ruger does have better aftermarket support but the Savage is far easier to disassemble and clean. There are flush and extended mags for both and both were accurate and ran well with multiple 22lr loads. Pick whichever one speaks to you more and you’ll likely enjoy it.
Please tell them to make a decent magazine for this rifle!!

When you are shooting a group you don't chase your previous shots. You just maintain the same point of aim and check the POI and MPI at the end of the string.

Magpul works with a variety of companies, for instance you can get a 110 with a Magpul stock directly from Savage. Thompson Center also used a Magpul type stock on their 10/22 clone.
are they going to get sued by magpul for copying their stock that they made for the ruger 10/22 takedown?
@22plinkster The green tags what was your bullet drop at 100 yards? I find with my 10/22 green tags drop as much as 6 inches with my model 60 they drop 4.5 inches at 100 yards. Savage has always made good budget rifles, but I think they out did Ruger on the takedowns. Just so you know I'm no fan of take down rifles the bullet shift you had is only one reason to not want one.
So it's a 10-22 with a Magpul backpacker stock? Ok
That detent mechanism makes it a hard no for me.
The only thing savage does well is their 10 and 110 series . Otherwise theyre cheap and work but aren't the most durable .

Good question, I've been thinking about getting a 64 for a long time. For the price of the 64 compared to a 10/22 takedown it's a lot more value than the 1022's which in addition are known to be more plagued with jams.

I had a 64 for a very short time…very poorly made and it would jam repeatedly if it wasn’t spotlessly clean…like 20-25 rounds and it would start jamming. I very quickly moved on to better firearms. I’ve had several 10/22’s and an A22…they were all good rifles and worked well without issues.
nothing wrong with savage, just rather have my ruger take down, it will do the exact same thing the savage does, only difference with mine it's scope only no iron sights

What is a purpose for needing a 22 in a backpack? Can anyone explain that to me?

Survival scenarios I believe. Say you go on a week long backpacking trip and get lost or hurt. This backpack rifle will be handy for hunting small game and warding off any predators. Having it in a backpack keeps you from needing to carry it constantly.
