I saw and read about your new T rex model and man are you guys legit. I was amazed at the level of care and detail to provide the most accurate depiction possible. I also learned some new things, information Id probably would have never bothered searching for otherwise despite my big intrest! I will wish with all my heart this game is successful! Its real art youre making here, so my biggest respect to you. Thank you!

Even if it's old, i love this video. The music, the camera, the forest detail, truly reminds me of the old dinosaur documentary i used to watch when i was a kid. Just a bit sad that you didn't keep old rex model and roar.

Why are projects like this, that strive for accuracy and realistically behaving dinosaurs, being overshadowed by shit like Mesozoica and Ark?

Most of Mesozoica's models are more or less accurate but most of them are under-feathered and/or shrink-wrapped. But it will still be like JPOG.

Critique incoming: I think you've done an amazing job with the graphics and with keeping the dinosaurs as authentic as possible, and as someone who's crazy about paleontology this is like a dream come true (I honestly can't think of any other game where the dinos were designed with this much love to detail) So this is a BIG plus for me and I would definitely buy the game (if not enormously overpriced) My main problem is that it seems to be a simulator more than a fun, engaging game. To me it seems like the Game Designers do not really have a clear idea of what to do with it yet, other than making it look scientifically accurate. Which is good enough for people like me; but I can guarantee that the vast majority of your players will NOT be that crazy about accurate depictions, and will get bored quickly. If you don't care about success and just want to practice, it's fine; but if contrary then I would really suggest thinking about a game mode before diving in. Maybe you could create more concepts showing possible in-game scenes, i.e. to decide where you would place the health bar or crosshair when playing 1st person, or concepts for eye-catching environments, etc.. I think this helps a lot by giving the game a general feel. Because at the moment it seems more like a playable documentary. This is my 2 cents, as someone who has a lil bit of experience in the game industry and who really wants this game to succeed because F- YEAH ACCURATE DINOS FOR ONCE.

What a blast from the past… game had so much promise. Shame I’ll probably be dead by the time it’s actually complete.

But hey, you need to turn this into a product more impactful! Your logo needs improvements, maybe a minimalist art. But the game has much potential, I'm glad to see that the movementation is amazing! To my palaeontological information, T-Rex hunted in packs. The young, fast ones reached the prey before the slower older, big ones arrived and killed the prey. It was a scientific surprise 2 years ago, that despite of small brains, T-Rex and others were social animals (group animals). Besides, this is an amazing game idea. Now i want to see somethign similar with trilobites, or even an Ediacaran game! Not joking. We need such games to raise interest with the younger generations, or we researchers go extinct, too.

I love it! The tyrannosaurus looks amazing and the feathers look great. The triceratops has a beautiful color scheme which makes it look less reptilian and more avian. The proto feathers also adds to the feeling that it is alive. And I thought that because obviously some creatures will be more popular than others it would be good with a balancing system. It would probably mostly be things like tyrannosauruses and dromeaosaurs (I don't know which species you will put in if you will) roaming the map, which could make it boring after a while. Assuming that because there's carnivores and herbivores there will almost form an ecosystem itself, which means that the smaller carnivores hunt small and weak herbivores or form a pack to hunt medium sized prey, as an example.

This game looks like my dream come true. I finally get to play as a biologically correct Tyrannosaurus in a realistic, prehistoric setting and EAT OTHER DINOSAURS! I've been following this game for a while now and everything looks so legit, I'm just so excited. Sorry for the gush, it just looks so rad. Plus, hearing it's gonna be on PC AND Mac makes me happy. thiago chagas There's evidence of feathers. The teeth are that small because in reality, the entire tooth would not be out of the gum. The majority is inside the gums. Source for the snout being too thin? Also, Nanotyrannus was absolutely an adolescent T. rex. There's almost no room for doubt.

I'm very willing to bet this won't come out to be what many of you are expecting. Otherwise, looks great.

Woooww!!!! I want to play this game :)

I'm not game designer but here is some ideas I thought of.Such as broken bones,which could effect how you play and your health. Natural disasters such as rock slides,storms,and floods.

Not bad, proof that dinosaurs with feathers can be done in games. Only problem with it is the ground contrasts too much with the plants, it like a pure brown ground and then suddenly a vibrant green plant sticks out. I'd add some moss/ferns to the ground or some random texturing, but that's just my opnion.

I am extremely excited for Dinosaur Battlegrounds, though this will probably come out earlier because of how much DB has, and how much work it will take for all of that to work. By all means I will love to get Saurian and play it, but I'm also excited for it to come out. My guess is maybe another year possibly, but who knows.

Before you praise them too much, remember that Saurian kept EVERYBODY in the dark for months at a time, w/o even posting, also Dinosaur Battlegrounds is a larger game with a better concept that started at a later time, it will take a little while longer for DB, but it'll be better than this.

And there is nothing wrong with praising them for something they have done which is deserving so far. When DB comes out with the live and trailer and all, they'll get the same ammount.

I dont really know where you plan to go with this game, but as someone who has studied dinosaurs for a large part of my life, I think it would be very interesting to maybe start off as a baby dinosaur and have to grow up, and face the trials that said dinosaur would have to face, like finding a mate and dealing with territory, this is just my opinion though.

Hell Creek has a large number of dinosaurs there. I wonder what other animals will be in this game?

Joshua Lowrie its actually mostly realistic. accurate feathered tyrannosaurus n austroraptor. spacific herbivores like puetrasaurus dont have feathers. they dont need them. upcoming lifecycles, etc. :U

The devs stopped updating then after it was removed from steam, they updated it, then it's back on steam now, and hasn't been updated once again.

They've made a huge amount of progress in the 2+ years since this video came out, and it's certainly looking like it'll pay off. Pretty much everything in this video has been redesigned to some extent (including the geography and plants) and moves a lot more fluidly now. I'd suggest checking out some more recent videos of theirs.

I don't know why, but I would love a game like this where you place dinosaurs in an area and watch them roam free, kind of like the Site B option of Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. I know it probably wouldn't be fully realistic, but I'd still love that kind of game.

There will be a Spectator mode in Saurian where you can sit back and watch nature play out. I think that's the closest thing to your idea. Operation Genesis was a really fun game though.

I'm not part of the development team, so I can't answer the first question. The second one though, there will be more dinosaurs; _T. rex_, _Triceratops prorsus_, _Pachycephalosaurus wyomingensis_ and _Dakotaraptor steini_ are going to be playable. Because of how well the Kickstarter is doing, there will be two more dinosaurs made playable, and backers will get to vote on what those creatures are. There will also be other animals (not just dinosaurs) that will appear in the game as A.I. like pterosaurs, lizards, and crocodilians, all of them from this specific part of the Hell Creek environment. If they receive enough funding, the final version of Saurian will have an additional environment with a new cast of dinosaurs from the Two Medicine Formation, which is about 10 million years older than Hell Creek in the same part of the world. Playable dinosaurs will include (and hopefully not limited to) _Gorgosaurus_ and _Rubeosaurus_/_Styracosaurus ovatus_ (there's some taxonomy issues going on right now regarding this dinosaur).

Yeah, there is not going to be a Spinosaurus. This game takes place in North America during the Late Cretaceous, Spinosaurus lived in Egypt during the Early-Mid Cretaceous period.

At the time the Project Crynosaurs trailer was released, most of the current Saurian development team were working on Project Crynosaurs. When we mutually decided to part ways and focus on Dinosaur game play (while Project Crynosaurs focused on human game play) we took the models with us.

EcompGames Unfortunately, having a specific "eaten alive" animation is not exactly high on our priority list.

A nice idea, and a good start. Still too early to say anything other than "okay".

3 years later and they finally released a new playable, now we must wait 3 more and then more and then... yeah there’s no hope for this game

I hope it won't end like The Stomping Land.....
