Some of you haven't given the greatest reviews of the movie. And quite honestly, I can barely remember what the plot was, so I can't agree or disagree. But it's always held a special place in my mind as part of my introduction to the artform of spoken word poetry. I caught it on cable in the middle of the night one night YEARS ago. Between this and Jessica Care More's run on the Apollo around the same time, I was inspired to pick up the pen, and I haven't put it down since. Thanx 4 posting.

"I forgot what the fuck i was thinkin" XD SERIOUSLY! lmao
yeaaaaa! i remember renting this a long time ago time to add the dvd to my dvd collection. Saul Williams!
One of my favorite scenes from Slam; if you haven't seen this film, please do! I've seen it three times since I ordered it from Amazon recently!
This is an amazing poem.
"I forgot what the fuck i was thinking"--the one and only Bonz Malone;the man that actually penned this masterful script. This was when i loved Saul--back in his Nuyorican Cafe-Lyricist Lounge days. This piece almost overwhelms,as if you can actually hear the Orishas being channeled through Saul before your eyes.
love this !!! love the movie even more
Still one of the most powerful poetic expressions I've heard to date... Thanks for sharing and keep up the great job building a strong youtube community =) #ThinkKwiz
Love that guy at the end "I forgot what the fuck I was doin'" hahaha

+YourMaIsFit Bonz Malone. He's the guy that actually wrote the script for this film.
Only the erudite, the intricate, the outter space, the chosen minds understand SIRE WILLIAMS
"I know God personally. In fact, he lets me call him ME. I'm SIRIUS B. ...Trying to imprison my ASTROLOGY. ...Son of Osiris. Worshipped like Jesus." Whoa. Watched this many, many years ago and was blown away. Now, I get it. Thank you, Saul. RA!
Was a wonderful movie and he is a very good poet.
wow I hadn't seen this in years. Still gives me chills, and now that I'm older I understand a lot more of the cultural and historical references that went over my head the first time.
"I 4got wtf i was thinkin..."funniest shit ever
He truly does inspire me and countless others to write poetry and not give up in the beuty of the english language a nd the worlds beuty

Jinx shit I agree with it, music and inventions that we use day to day wouldn't be the same without blacks. Won't get specific because it's just KZread and you have the internet to research.

@Jordan Church actually you couldn't say that about every race because only 1 race and that's black people. What people call other races is nothing but Africans diluted from their initial culture by way of adaptation.

Are you? You offer no information only insults. Go back to the sandlot you very small child.
This full movie, Slam 1998, is on hulu right now. You are welcome, and this man is a prophet for our time. Respect.
One of my favorite scenes from a movie EVER. Saul is brilliant - and so is this entire movie. WATCH IT! :)
this is poetry at its rawest
My skin still flutters from this poem...Looking back at it and starting it he broke down Egyptian mythology and then out of it he showed the birth of Christianity you can split that poem today and people still won’t get it...
TRUTH! was hipped today this since 8th grade.
This is poetry at its finest
good movie, great scene. i stopped combing my mind, so my thoughts could lock. - saul wiliams
He explains it in his book The Dead Emcee Scrolls. He didn't write the song, he found a hieroglyphic rhyme in a spray paint can.

Saul Williams is so Awesome...SLAM!!
Gets me every time... One!.. One! One! One!

I always liked saul williams. I was sick yesterday and surfing netflix and naturally, with my love of poetry, I had to watch this and I FREAKED out when I saw he was in it
That was hella legit! Love the PE references too.
cant watch that or hear it without getting emotional
Was listening to the joey Bada$$ song..recognized Saul's voice from the jump I had to pause the song and watch this 1st
"forgot what the fuck I was thinking" was the same reaction I had
music to my ears!
Love this movie!!! Saul Williams is a bad brutha'!!!
This is from the film SLAM, I definitely recommend it to anyone who is a fan or likes this piece.
Saul Williams is THA TRUTH ! Kinda like the Rudy Ray Moore or Dolemite for our times!!
Yeah I'm "SIRIUS.. B" Sirius star system
People buggin about hip hop coming back to bars. This is a good thing. This film has so many gems."Yo Son as in Solar Simply because we are we be the rising stars and Suns that never set what up black? wanna make a bet jack? I got the formula, throw me in the sky and I'll warm ya get your sun block, throw me in a cell block"
"I know GOD personally, in fact he lets Me call him Me" "Stealing us was the smartest thing they ever did." Are you kiddin me!!!! Fam is bananas.
Slam is an underrated movie with great performances especially Saul Williams.
This is the most awesom-est scene... too bad we don't get the full impact here... the fact that Saul breaks up a prison fight and changes a thug's mind... still... thanks for posting! This movie is hard to find...
👂THESE WORDS ARE POWERFUL 💪✊👊👏
Some of you haven't given the greatest reviews of the movie. And quite honestly, I can barely remember what the plot was, so I can't agree or disagree. But it's always held a special place in my mind as part of my introduction to the artform of spoken word poetry. I caught it on cable in the middle of the night one night YEARS ago. Between this and Jessica Care More's run on the Apollo around the same time, I was inspired to pick up the pen, and I haven't put it down since. Thanx 4 posting.
Love this movie !!!!!!
Saul quite literally blew my mind out of my ass first time I heard him... I was so baked, I had that same reaction lol xD
beautiful
POWERFUL STUFFFFFF!!!!
"i forgot what the fuck i was doin.." hahaha
Man, this just blew me away.
The ending of this always puts a smile on my face...
Will always remain in my movie collection.
Guys on some next level. Love Sauls work and that of other mad poets like EL P, AESOP ROCK, SCROOBIUS PIP, ALLFLAWS
Love this movie!
