Saucony Triumph 22 vs Saucony Ride 17: Two runners give their verdict on Saucony’s cushioned shoes
Спорт
The Saucony Ride 17 and Saucony Triumph 22 are both big updates on their predecessors, with the Ride 17 actually now having a similar design to the Triumph 21 while the Triumph 22 has an all-new setup with a PWRRUN PB midsole and a much wide base. How have the updates affected the shoes and which should you get? Tom and Nick talk through the two shoes in this video.

Yes. Excited for this comparison. Cheers 👍
I've run a lot in Ride 16 and Triumph 20. I prefer the Ride, as my experience in the Triumph is much as Tom describes - when I walk in the shoe I feel a lot of squish and softness, but when I run, landing on the mid-forefoot, it feels quite firm and harsh to me, and on long runs the bottoms of my feet get sore. The Ride 17 would probably work well for me, but I wish they hadn't let the weight go up so much - it's making me look elsewhere when it's time to replace the 16s.
Looking forward to seeing what model ultimately comes out on top as the best plushy cushioned easy day shoes! I'm having more and more doubts about the Triumph 22 the more that I look at it.
Would it make sense to go for a Triumph 21 over both as they are now available around £120 and up?

I got the T21s last week and am absolutely gutted as they're slightly off fit-wise and are completely gone here (New Zealand) in the next size up. So I've replaced them with the Magnify Nitro 2 and have the 21s for sale cheap 😢
The eyelets on the Ride also concern me in terms of durability. Have they held up okay after the first one breaking?
They ruined the best versatile comfort running shoe ever. The Triumphs. Now I can’t even find a 20 or 21 my size anymore.

Did you watch the video? The ride 17 is the new triumph

@@RunnerdJK I did. Chill! And no it isn’t. I tried them. They are close but not completely the same thing. Triumph was cannibalizing the Ride 15-16 sale.

In with you mate. So devastated. Thankfully I just picked up a pair of 21s so I’m good for a couple more months. Still not happy though
hmmm so what I’m getting from this comparison is to get the Triumph 21 if discounted, otherwise go with the Ride 17
I'm curious how the Triumph 22 feels compared to the Freedom 4/5, which was the first non-plated PWRRUN PB shoe. It didn't feel like the Pro or Speed, but I did like that shoe a lot. I know that is a minority opinion, but with those and the Shift being discontinued, I would have to move onto one of these models. It is a shame they keep getting rid of the lower drop models.
Nice Review Gents, is there any major difference between the Ride 17 and the Ride 15 and 16?

Alot!!! The R15 is a basic standard daily trainer, if a little firm. The R16 they added weight to and it was generally not loved and it still used Powerun in the midsole. The R17 has power run + in it like the Triumph 20/21 but an 8mm drop unlike the 10mm in the triumph. The R17 is a step up from R15. Avoid R16, if super cheap and want a bog standard plodder pick up R15 otherwise it’s R17 all the way or a cheap triumph 20 or 21 if you don’t mind the 10mm drop. Both shoes were widely recognised as excellent!

@@michaelgriffiths305 I thank you for your input. I ask because I have the Ride 15 and was looking for a similar option and got the Gel-Cumulus 25, major disappointment. I will consider your recommendations.

T22 VS MoreV4 ?
They really 💩 the bed with the triumph. It was one of the most versatile shoes on the market...now its a easy run/recovery run only shoe.
TLRD get the 21s on sale
Based on this and other reviews I'm disappointed that the Triumph has changed this much. I'm running 21s at the moment having came from the 19 and the 20. Looks like a switch to the Ride for me. I love the cushion but I'm after a daily that can do more than a max cushion.
I was really excited with the T22 because I really like my T20....but I'm getting more and more disappoint with every new T22 review/comparison I see lol :|
So Ride 17 has replaced Triumph 21, Triumph 22 has gone supersize, so what’s taken the place of the Ride?

It might be better to skip this generation of Saucony trainers and wait for improvements. Older models are fine and can be found at a discount. New models are quite heavy. Ride 17 has horrible lacing loops that Nick ripped on his first try iirc. Colorways are Saucony kind of usual ugliness so there is little reason to buy them at full price. All of this makes the idea of waiting for a newer, refined model even more reasonable.
second comment!
Ride 17 is hard sole compared to triumph 21. Don’t like 17.
