Hi team, thank you for your reviews. I managed to order a pair of Speed 4 with 26% discount, unbelievable, but still waiting for delivery. Hope won't be canceled because of any reasons as looks customs make troubles and delays for goods from US. Speed 4 for daily training, recovery and some tempo runs, Pro 4 as your race day shoe. Or Triumph/Ride for daily training, Speed 4 for tempo and races.

Two pairs of Speeds.

Saucony has been discontinued in my lineup! When they screwed up the heel counter in the version 3, I switched to Asics and Nike. The Speed one was my shoe of the year. Trying to chase the super shoes turned Saucony into Greed! My feet and Ankles are more important than an overpriced Plated daily trainer!

The Speed collection has been my favourite but I’ve preferred 1 and 3 for the fit because I wear a massive orthotic for my falling arches haha stretched my speed 2 with shoe trees and got them going eventually. Cheers for the review

Had 3s and just replaced with 4s, bit disappointed they are chunky and heavier, loved the speed 3 in blue

Great video, but I've just ordered another pair of Superblasts (thank you Asics for finally releasing more (amazing colourway too 🙌🏽)).

Might buy Hoka Mach 6 and Saucony Endorphin Speed 4, then racing shoes would Asics Super Blast

Speed 4 Vs Magic Speed 4 vs Superblast vs Mach 6 Vs Deviate Nitro 3 vs Boston 13 when out… the up tempo/workout MP training comparison… I’d guess the Magic Speed 4 will be best work out shoe, the Speed 4 an up tempo favourite with the Superblast best for MP training sessions… other views..?

Took the plunge and bought a pair of Asics Superblast instead after having Speed 1, 2 and 3 and, after two sessions, pretty certain I made the right decision! The Superblast are epic!

@@romanpjescak3113The speed plate really only provides lateral stability. Not propulsion. I have non-plated shoes that are way stiffer than the various Endo Speed versions.

Speed 2 are a lot better than superblast. That plate does offer propulsion (for me). I cannot run that fast in the Superblast

Any word on whether Saucony will make a version of the 4 in a wider fit? The wide Speed 3 was great for me, the 4 really pinches my splaying toes.

How does this compare to Something like the triumph 21? Both look very versatile now

Tom - speed 4 is firmer than 3; Kieran - speed 4 is softer than 3. Perhaps that averages out to pretty much the same.

Are ASICS retaking the initiative from Saucony as the runners brand in 2024?

What shoes are your other choices to the Speed 4

Is it similar to the nb rebel 4?

Thanks for a great review! Currently stuck between getting the mach 6 or a deal on a speed 3 as my only shoe training for a half marathon....speed 4's are a bit pricey for me at the moment. Would appreciate any opinions from commenters on the better option.

Definitely Speed 3 as it's got the benefits of flexibility as well as a plate. Unless you're more of a mid-to-forefoot striker, in which case the Mach would have more cushioning on the forefoot.

Mach 6 is much more snappy. Plus, it now has rubber out soul instead of running on straight foam!

Speed 2 still the 🐐

Must say I’m a bit disappointed with the Speed 4 after versions 1 and 2. I have very narrow feet and the 1 and 2 fitted me like a glove. The 4 is wider and there is a lot more volume in the upper. I have to heel lock and cinch down the laces, resulting in bunching over the toe box. Maybe I should have gone down half a size from my usual 9. Having bought some extra thick Balega socks, the movement of my foot in the shoe is now acceptable and I will persevere with them. They do still feel a bit like boats on my feet and are definitely heavier and less nimble than 1 and 2. The good news was that I picked them up for £125.99 in Wiggle’s liquidation sale. Think I’ll look at picking up Mach 6 when sale prices kick in later in year. Hoka standard fit shoes tend to be narrow and so suit me. For example, the Tecton X2 is great for me in my normal English 9 - and it works well for me on both trail and road.

I'm in the opposite boat. They made a version of the Speed 3 in a wide fit, Speed 4 is narrower than 3, and they don't seem to be making a wider fit version.

Personally, the 3 was horrible. I ran in the original ones and the 2's and loved them to bits. I feel like this line has been completely changed, and not for the better.

Yup! When they changed the upper and screwed up the heel counter, they dropped out of my rotation. They have been replaced with the Hoka Mach 6. Speed 1 and 2 were amazing! Then they killed the shoe!

Can they remake the speed 1 now there’s a shoe! The three was meh, was hoping to a return to the earlier reiterations and not sure 4 gives us that magic.

I agree 100%. Saucony tried chasing the super shoe game instead of keeping it as a solid daily trainer. With the very aggressive heel counter, my left heel ached for months. Switched to Asics and Nike. Issue is gone. Also talked to other runners that had same issue. Saucony Speed 1 was my shoe of the year. Now, the Speed version is useless! When they have a good product, they changed it. Saucony doesn't need my business anyway! Why a plated shoe as a trainer anyway! See ya Saucony!

the 3 didn't work for me neither... I bought a fresh speed 1 and a fresh speed 2 on ebay the last weeks... but I guess supply is really drying out now...

Fit - if you place the insole of the Speed 3 on top of the insole of the Speed 4 are they the same width in the toebox? 🙏🏻

I’ve just checked. The insoles are identical width but there is a lot more material over your toes. A much more baggy fit. EDIT: sorry. I misunderstood. I checked the 2 insole against the 4.

@@peterjohnson653 One more thing.. I found the Speed 3 mushy after an hour or so. Here 2 say the Speed 3 was softer then Speed 4 but the guy who run 2000 k in the the Speed 3 says Speed 4 is softer.. 🙄

I’ve never tried the Speed 3 although a friend says she finds them not as racy as the 1 and she also finds that the 3’s winged nylon plate digs into her left arch. For me, the 4 definitely feels softer and more squishy than the 2 which does admittedly have 350 miles under foot. My longest run so far in 4 is 44 minutes and sole held up fine but I am quite light in weight.

The heel lockdown on the Speed 3 wasn't great. And I could never put my finger on exactly why. The fairly limited heel collar padding, the very stiff and rigid heel cup with no real padding or the stretchy upper and laces. The rest of the lockdown was great once I tightened the shoe down and got rid of all the excess stretchy material. I made the mistake of bringing the Speed 3 with me on a 2 week cruise as my only running shoe, and my heels were destroyed by the time I got home. Even with daily applications of KT tape and bandaids. I've just come to the conclusion that Saucony heel lockdowns just aren't for me. While Asics shoes have all worked brilliantly, and the Nike racer shoes put in a great heel collar padding strip that makes heel lockdown automatic.

V4 Lighter and nimbler, S4 more energy return, a little more propulsive. Rebel v4 cheaper, Speed 4 more durable.

I've owned every version of the speeds and the price of these now is just getting a bit ridiculous. I can find them for £160 in the UK, but even then I don't think I can justify it. It's a shame, but might start looking around elsewhere with everyone else being so competitive.

I bought speed 3 after the nitro 2 the main difference I noticed was the weight difference and the speed roll I found upper more comfortable than puma but I wasn't blown away by speed 3 I really rated the nitro 2

Only anecdotal but I know far more people with slightly wide feet than slightly narrow feet. So personally Im not to sure going narrower is good. But again only anecdotal, I do not know what the actual wide-narrow curve looks like on world population basis.

Idk… I’m about 25 miles into it and I feel this shoe is missing something the speed 3 had… still giving it some time.

i’m going for a sub 2 hour half marathon, should i go pro 4 or will speed 4 be okay?

That's 5:41 min/km. You can do this with any shoe.

£180 for a daily trainer 🤔 Edit: having now watched to the end, I don't think it was accurate to call it a daily trainer at the beginning of the video. It sounds comparable to the Superblast

The hype on these series is insane. Imo not worth the 200 bucks. I might get them on sale

The fact that they are not as wide/roomy is very bad news for me and my 2E wide (women's) feet :/

If they could just remake the 1/2 and make it so it doesn't go completely dead later into a run it would be the perfect shoe

Speed 4 is a good training shoe, but no longer a race shoe if you are a sub 4 min/km runner. Speed 2 is better for race day, lighter, faster.

I raced the Speed 2 alot, and I wouldn't be close to racing in the 3 or 4. It's a fast daily shoe, border line tempo at best. Real shame.

You need to compare with speed 2, not 3. I hate that they ruined the Speed for race day. That Nylon plate was brilliant for slower runners - around 5min/km because it could provide the extra punch. They hardened the plate to reduce the pop of the shoe and I totally dislike it. The review is biased: they changed the shoe a lot compared to the 2 and 3. And not in a good way. For Saucony: just offer wide and narrow options, put some sidewalls for stability and make the nylon plate flexible again!!!

Speed4 for £179 or adidas Boston 12 for £120??

I got the Speed 3s for 100 euros cheaper than the Speed 4s...

This show feels completely different than the 3 in my opinion
