I think the talk trashed clue is referring to talking while inebriated so as to slur your speech. Trashed being a term for being heavily inebriated.

Indeed; hopefully I wasn’t unclear but when I said dialect I did meant it in the sense described here, I didn’t mean simply an accent

Yes, I just chose to say “never” to avoid confusing “no” with the interjection “no”, because here it’s an adverb, that was probably an unnecessary bit of caution
