Hey gun man I went over to the dark side from devilbiss I been them for 15yrs ,and to be open with ya I got fed up with the baffles always shitting them selfs ,I got over 10 devilbiss guns , got given the 5000 rp 1.3 for a week from the sata rep and yes was super happy yes they are crazy money dude but like u say it’s up to you haha …

I can not justify spending that much on a sata. I mean I really would love to have one but I just don't have that much money laying around lol. Especially when I can pay a few hundred less and in MY opinion get one of the best finishes with the iwata. And the fact that some parts are plastic with chrome plating kind of irritates me.. your gonna charge so much for a gun and have the audacity to use plastic on high stress areas?! Come on sata. I'm going on a rant. Awesome video as always gunny.

If you're not spraying exotic cars, there's no need to spend that much money in my opinion

My sagola 4600 1.2 sprays amazing. I also use a 5500RP O 1.1 which is probably really a 1.25ish.

@@looper451 great gun. Sprays a little harder than an rp which is fine with me. Much much smoother trigger than my 5500sata. Never had a problem with mine. I use devilbiss for color and sata or sagola for clear. My iwatas just sit.

@@rawcustoms5834 I have a FLG 1.8 primer gun. A GPI “cannon” (😂) for metallics because it really lays it down nice. A 2006 GTI for 2K gloss and my Pro Lite for clear. Each has its own purpose and they do it so well.

Yeah big devilbiss fan even though my industrial painting career over the flow with heavy paints like 2pk zinc silicates n topcoats mmmm just so smooth . Way before the fancy gun dips I’d take pride in polishing mine up cos you know how harsh industrial two packs can be especially in Australian summers in shithole steel fab workshops n such

But sometime we have to try a new brand for learning and compare But for work and for price I'm choose Devilbiss too.

I looked into the 5500 series but just stayed with my SATA 1500 SOLV since the 5500 is 100% designed by SATA for waterborne paints and I use only solvent based products here in US until it is banned for good. The price for the waterborne is 4 times more then BC/CL. Gun looks amazing though and honestly I like watching your vids for last 10 years.

Great review mate, just ordered 1.2 O RP and 1.3 i HVLP, i wanted 1.2 i HVLP for water but they didn't have that option in the future, i had a couple of demo 5500 x guns and didn't get on with the i set up for clear, they are expensive but I've been using Sata since i started painting 30 odd years ago. 1 good thing about them is they hold value well second hand, especially the limited editions, if you wanted to sell older models to upgrade,

I use the ProLite and love it. You get sick of hearing this and I have said it before….you are the best I have seen . Hope you and your little dog have a Merry Christmas.

I need to get back to my roots

i find a double technique on light colours and silvers always helps with mottle and a must have is a humidity gauge for the correct adjuster

I’ve had Sata guns for years, always loved them, have the new X5500 RP 1.2 I lays clear down really fine 😊

I spray spies water based paint and I prefer the satas for the base coat. I have found the 1.3 is too much for base coat, so I use the 1.2 You do have to make your drop coat super slow with metallics however. Especially light silvers.

with standoblue i paint forst coat on wet and second on litle further and faster with more wide pases so in some way to conect them and no problem with motling

You got too go with what Works for You. I clear with iwata and base coat with Sata !!! N The Old days binks number 7 then moved too matson pressure pots 🤙🤙

Hey gunny, referring to your prolites, have you done any rebuild kits/maintenence on them. I have 3 and all 3 leak air or paint from one place or another

Great review Gunny and I like your unbiased reviews even though you get a lot of your guns for free you stay true to yourself. I've had my Sata X5500 RP for quite a while now and even though I think it's a great gun and lays the clear on really well it's way over priced. I bought mine with the 1.2 I as I thought it would be a bit of a hose but was surprised that it was quite slow so got the 1.3 I setup for it which IMO made it a better gun but I wouldn't buy another one, IMO the new WS400 S2 is far better and I'm thinking about getting the OBS version for base🙏👍John UK.

Just attended a paint certification class and our paint company is big time in bed with sata. It was a 2 day class and one whole day of it was a sata rep come and talk about the company. The nice thing is that they let us spray with all kinds of different satas. Beautiful guns and spray great. Do they provide a groundbreaking obvious difference between them and say iwata or Devilbiss? Hell no. I’ll get 2 pro lites before I get a sata for that much money. Just my 2 cents.

I've had my devilbiss pro lite and pro lite mini now for a few years now (recommend by gunny) and still as good as the day I bought them. ✌️

I just bought a new X 5500 1.3 hvlp O, I was expecting it to be better than my DV1's. It's going to just sit in the toolbox as a backup gun. I'm devilbiss fan for life.

They should focus on making the gun more efficient instead of painting it different colors not to mention I didn't even expect that it has plastic parts really!

You need to take a look at new walcom carbonio 360 evo.

Ive seen the gunman rewievs over the la last 6 years, and honastly him being so in llove with the devillbis guns, makes subjective rewiev on other brands like sata In australia maybe the price diferences on sata vs devilbis are higher, (i dont know why), but here in europe the defrences are inverted, devilbis costs higher than sata, it just depends from where you buy them. Here where i live there are a lot of garage painters that dont have a paint boot cabin luxury, so they paint il all conditions, not free off dust and not in ideall booth temperature. I have to say that a friend of mine works individualy in a garage and with primitive conditions and a single spray gun from the store LIDL(grocery store) thet value 12 euro or 12 american dolars. Belive me, he sprays perfectly everything, clear, base, filers like glass, the secret is the the painter not the gun. If you buy one brand you buy couse you like it and love it, and you start beeing subjective about it, like most painters rewiv on you tube I recomand seeing a video from the chanel D. I. Y AUTO BODY SCHOOL at video of best spray gun, and he will tell you that its a lot of bullshit going on the internet, and in the realitity the painter is the the problem, not the guns, what ever gun you have, just learn it and use it

Im all about Walcom HTE but that is one hell of a nice gun. The price on it though is pretty high, significantly more than my genesi 360 base and 360 clear gun. I do the same thing with Standox clear as well with Roberlo HS and Genesis HS. Going light with my first, then i hammer my next two.

Sata is just too costly to keep buying new models. I usually wait a while and buy them used on Ebay. they are good guns but I agree with you they are not the best for the buck.

Can i have this gun its my 3rd time watching this video. Me n my friend bought one in the start of the year bt he took it without i knew n left the island now in using a husky to get the jobs done. I had $2500EC into buying the gun he chipped in $600 n now he stole it. Back to saving up again hopefully i can get a used one 😅

I decided to buy a couple spray guns thru Spray guns direct and was unable to do so in the USA........ Disappointing. So I emailed them twice and got no respond.More dispointed.

the only thing that justifies me buying satas is the longevity i get outta them. hurts every time i buy a new one. but spraygunsdirect has definitely helped out on that with their prices.

I sent the money and asked for proof of shipping, and wasn’t given any. I’ve reached out to let you know you have someone in your community that is stealing money in your name! I have proof from text, and have reached out to PayPal, and my bank. That was in May, I haven’t heard from anyone.

In my opinion Sata is garbage, to exspensive and sprays really badly, i would rather prefer chinese guns like Porphis or other chinese brands
