I had a similar MOT report on my volvo 460 turbo, took me about a year to fully resolve and weld it all, im so proud of how it turned out for a driveway mech. K872 LUF is the reggo lol 😆 iv got a volvo 480 to do next! Keep up the good work, I love your videos!

Brilliant 👍🏼 I know cars don’t have feelings so to speak, but if they did, can you imagine after sitting on its own, lonely for 12 years, to finally get found and taken in to the warm garage, given a once over and then given the chance to run around the track with other cars. I bet the cars heart is happy. Even if this is its last hoorar. Would love to see this car fixed and continue its legacy.

It's heartbreaking really that the Mondeo is so rusty underneath when most of the rest of it is in such great condition, and it goes so well. The moral of the story, don't leave cars parked on grass.

I never appreciated the styling of the mondeo so much at the time, but looking at it now compared to how cars today what a beutiful looking car it is. Can't believe you ping away the screw covers for the scuttle being a windscreen fitter back in the day my job was to try and put those back on afterwards 😂😂😂

@tasty classics the gear linkage selector was karma for being smug about the beemer guys gearbox lol 😂😂😂 remember four wheels on a board make a jolly good ford and its guaranteed to go when you push it.

The ghiaX version was a better equipped car with the same engine as the St. I owned a mk2 St and sold it. Having had the ghiaX version, I felt it was a better car with as much power. Your new ghiax will be a much rarer beast in the classic car scene. Never see it as a lesser mondeo as it was Ford's high-end model.

Loads of these Ford Contours and Mercury Mystic's over here in the Desert. And the damn things don't...or WON'T rust. I work in a Salvage yard and I deal with these things almost every other day. We still have ACTUAL NOS Panels laying around for these 😅. You can also get them through some Ford Dealers.

For me personally way better than attempting to restore it. Way to much work for what the cars worth. A final blaze of glory was much more satisfying. 😌

I had a 2.0 petrol one of these mondeos. With decent tyres, it could be hustled to a ridiculous degree. This was a real nostalgia trip. Thanks. Oh yeah, and the ABS was very reluctant to intrude on my car too.

I'd hope that someone with a dirty old diesel or base spec Mondeo buys it and swaps the V6 drivetrain into it.

Pull the engine?? Find something small and light to transplant it into?? Resto-mod episode , that would be a good series

The Mondeo lives 🎉 it passed its MOT on 13th June 2024 almost exactly 1 year after it failed.

In the usa we had these under the mercury brand. They were called the mercury mystique. Pretty much the same car minus tail light style. The Ford version was called the contour.

Trip down memory lane watching this. Had an ST24 in my early twenties and it was so drivable on the B roads. Was a dream to drive and an equally great motorway cruiser. Even in 5th at 30 it just pulled. Very predictable and grippy.

Ben. There's nothing wrong with the subframe, mate. It's solid angled steel. It's the suspension mount areas that are the worst points to attack first. They will undoubtedly need plates welding in. Once you've properly tarted the subframe - with the correct Dinitrol products - as described previously - not going over that one again if you 're not interested - the MoT guy won't fail it on the subframe again when it's waxed up and looks the biz.

Ain't gonna lie, when that thing was going up, I was half expecting a repeat of the Metro, I mean "114", but still, yikes!!! On the plus side, pull the engine & drivetrain and build a lightweight mid or rear-engined kit car maybe? Would probably go like brown stuff off a stick... :P

Just purchased the exact same car in Australia Sat for 2 years Purchased for 600 dollars (350 quid) Got the engine running and now in the process of flushing all the fluids Shame to see the rust may kill this one ... Because Perth Australia is a arid environment the rust is not really an issue All the best for the future

you do know here in the states we have rainX sprits on the wind screen and the water just bubbles up and runs off the glass. no wipers needed.

What a great engine that Ford has. It must be worth saving seeing the prices pf Ford Cossie Sierras and the like are fetching now. It may only be worth £3K restored now, but in 5 years time it could be worth double that

Although it'll probably never be on the road again, it still clearly has some life left in it. It'd make a good track car. Weld in a few lengths of steel along the still to restore some rigidity lost from the sills.... Not being there anymore and send it.

Smashing great job my friend 🤠 . Unfortunately there aren't any local tracks other than a 1/4 mile drag strip & a flat 1/4 mile oval in my area. Another thing we don't have here in the states are mot's. You should check out Rat Rod's. There's some of the craziest home built street legal cars you'll ever see. We have 2 Rat Rod car clubs here locally, the Idaho Heap herders & the Idaho Death traps car club 🤣🤣🤣 ...
