SasiKumar sir should direct films at least once in a year. His name should be on the top of the list among the directors like Pa Ranjith, Maari selvaraj, Vetrimaaran etc 🙌🏼🔥

I am hyped to see Sasikumar's take on Kuttra Parambarai, his new web series based on the titular novel by Vela Ramamurthi. This was a novel that both Bala and Bharathiraja both fought for to translate it to the big screen so it's interesting to see how Sasikumar will translate this novel to the webseries format

Kangal irandal…❤ Most listened song in my life…

Movie was amazing of course, but James Vasanthan songs was different level. Word of mouth for the film pre release was solely because of the songs. Kangal Irandal (Bellie Raj) and Madura Kulunga Kulunga are bangers, the album feels fresh even after 15 years. Even the RR in the movie is massively underrated.

He should direct more movies. He is an example of how organically directing a movie. Challenging himself too. Great film and music till today . Watched it many times in all dubbed language and still the nuance of the film never changes. Great direction and acting by all the actors.

Still I remember this movie, I watched at MR theatre, Tambaram. Based on the love track (kangal irandal), myself and my friend went to watch this movie and after watching this movie, it became an unforgettable and all time favourite for me. Even today, I feel to watch this movie and I have seen it multiple times. Special thanks to whole units of this movie. Songs, RR, dialogues, location, costumes, performance were outstanding. Every year I remember the date of July 4. Mr.Sasi thanks for creating and sharing such a universe like Subramaniapuram to us and this movie stands long in the world of cinema. Paraman, Azhagar, Dumka, dopa are always in our memories. Kindly I request this team to come back soon.

He did very good interviews with Lokesh on Vikram and Gautam on VTK. Infact, there was before/after release interviews with them. I feel he's having a lot more freedom after he has come out of Film companion and every video that comes out has some character in it. The interviews with Saritha and Parthiban stood out for me. Nobody does interviews like that anymore.

I still remember the movie had its release after dasavatharam. I watched it as there was no ticket for dasavatharam. They made me wait for sometime as there was only very few present and they said screening will be done if 10+ ppl show up. Finally watched this wonderful film and again watched it the next day. Those days and experiences like this are gold😍😍😍😍

It’s good luck that Ilaiyaraja didn’t score music for this classic. James Vansanthan had added more value which no one could possibly imagine. This movie was organic assemble of talents which themselves can’t create the magic again.

This interview is a nice tribute to the cult classic. Delighted to learn, Sasikumar is back to directing!

I still remember watching this movie at madurai. It was in a theatre named Thanga Reegal (BR sir pls visit this theatre once, you won't be comfortable now, but the look of it), a very famous theatre. It went almost to shutdown, later they've revamped it and released Subramaniapuram. 1day matinee show. What a performance. Sasikumar such a beautiful person.

I think BR sir loved this film alot,he is still very excited in asking those questions that may be the beauty of the film

This movie inspired Gangs of Wasseypur as told by Anurag Kashyap after that only i watched this movie which was a cult movie unlike other Stereotypical Madurai based gangster movie. I always wanted someone to talk about this fortunately you have done it today

actually people like Amir and Sasi exhausted their whole soul for one single movie and quit movie making....Paruthiveeran and subramanyapuram stands forever

This was such a great interview... I loved how Sashi sir spoke about- how everyone being new had that thirst to contribute and excel in their own area- and the collective team work resulted in the brilliance of the movie... This was one of the most surprising movies for me in my life.. I didnt know much about this movie when it was released.. when a school friend and i planned to watch Hancock- only after reaching the theatre- we realised that Hancock got removed. Not knowing what else to do- we bought tickets for Subramaniapuram.. But it was such a boon- for i hadn't expected anything and was completely blown away.. especially- that scene where they revealed Samuthrakani is the one who is calling and informing on Azhagar and Paraman.. and the betrayal of Thulasi in the end- absolutely brilliant!

Mr. Sasi is right! Subramaniapuram is special. It is not a regular commercial film nor a regular Art film. It's perfect mix of both. Making a movie like this is "taking a wild life photograph". It's a moment captured at the right time. Re-creating that moment is impossible.!

Well said!! It was so fresh....with surprises at every turn.....for example in that final betrayal scene...sasikumar says "KUDURAA" once very boisterously....but in an instant senses the impending betrayal...so the next KUDURA is soft and filled with both shock and hope....that single tone change haunts till this day!

Very humble director.I hope he comes with a bang in his second innings.Also loved his explanation of thulasi's narration towards swathi

Someone please remind this guy that he is a great director. He got every minute details about Madurai correctly like the TV with a case to close it, TVS aluminum bus & so on. In one of the scenes, There will be an advertisement for a dress shop which was there in 80s & 90s, Kandy Kalaimagal Stores. Many may not even remember that shop, but he got it perfectly.

For some reason his answer made me think it's just fluke film . Some time fluke can be so perfect that made you think it can't be Fluke.
