as for the character, I don´t remember (probably good education?) but as for the actor, his parents are Russian, he was born and lived in Israel till he was 7 and then moved to Montréal, the French-speaking part of Canada. I guess he can speak French, English, Russian and Hebrew.

Ok I know it's 2021 and this is such a dumb nitpick but why does he vouvois his own subordinate

It is not common to use "Tu, toi" with your subordinate just because they are your subordinate. Your boss is supposed to offer you to "tutoyer" (use the informal form) and even if he does, you have the right to say no. It is not automatic. When people use the informal "tu, toi" it is a sense of showing equality. Hope that explains it :).
