SASE Explained (Secure Access Service Edge) - What's the Meaning of SASE and Why You Will Use SASE

Ғылым және технология

SASE is the future of cybersecurity and networking. SASE allows you to treat remote users and branch locations with the same security tools as corporate users, without bringing remote workflows back to a central security stack. You will improve user experience and security posture by using SASE.

    The big hardware providers & carriers will market SASE as if they are providing you something new. When really they are just combining the products they already sell with their in house management laid on top. There are a few real SASE providers that are cloud native and provide a truly uniform security posture while providing a network as a service.

  • @stevemurphy2347

    @stevemurphy2347

    Correct, Joel. SASE is not new. What is new is the consolidation of services into one offering. The carrier will package their existing tools to do this, but if history is any guide, it will be clunky. Thanks for commenting! Best, Steve

    Nice Video Steve. As a CSP where can I play a role on the SASE story if I want to build an offering to Corporate customers. Given we tend to be on the NAAS side of the stack away from the Customer, do you see SP's being able to provide a differentiated offering to customers? Is there a value in pulling a joint solution with a Secure edge offering from a Security provider to make this a viable turn key solution?

  • @stevemurphy2347

    Hello Sriram, Under the service model of a CSP, which I am assuming stands for Cloud Service Provider, you have an opportunity to provide anything cloud-based. If addressing an expansive definition of CSP is consistent with your strategy, then "Yes", a great way to get into the end-user cloud security space through SASE is to partner with an existing SASE provider. I could suggest a few if I knew more about your situation. Feel free to reach out to me using the contact info in the video description. Best, Steve

    Hi Steve , Can you elaborate little bit more about SASE and SD-WAN combination. How and in which scenarios we can combine them or whether should it be combine ?

  • @stevemurphy2347

    @stevemurphy2347

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi. Sure. SD-WAN is an integral part of the SASE framework, but we need to understand the two different sides of SASE - managed network and managed security. SD-WAN provides traffic prioritization, management and visibility on your network connections. SD-WAN also typically replaces the corporate firewalls where deployed. Your SASE managed network firewall that supports the remote end-users and your SD-WAN firewall governance need to be synced. SASE (when using a single vendor) unifies the firewall rule-set between SD-WAN and remote users. This unification prevents gaps from forming between the two services. Gaps = risk. I hope that helps.
