Sasaki Judo Clinic in Fredericksburg, VA (10-24-2015)

Спорт

Another great learning experience at Wall 2 Wall Martial Arts, Fredericksburg, VA. Many thanks to Sensei Shinjiro Sasaki (Kodokan All Japan Champion & one of the top judokas in the world) and to his wife Sensei Rieko Sasaki for coming & teaching. We also thank to Sensei Chuck Wall (and others) for organizing the event. As so many others, we enjoyed the clinic and learned a lot. Jiri & Kevin Jelinek, Charlottesville Judo Academy

Respect for the practice dummy. I was a pretty serious wrestler in high school and we went to a camp during the summer at a local college. There was this Russian Olympian there and I was "his size". He did everything I already knew but so much better and I landed so much harder. Long story short, I didn't go back to camp on day 2, I was so sore.

Precision hand, arm, foot positioning. Complete motions perfect, precise throws keep the students focused. Kuzushi is perfect. Japanese judo is beautiful, an art form. Thank you for session.

A huge thank you friend! You discovered new secrets of judo for me! Tirelessly to draw and share with friends and his son! You are very generous and kind, which is not prodaёsh it as a product, and you give to people! You deserve great respect and I, along with similar amateur judo. Do you the lowest bow .... You are very cool .......

You are welcome. As Sensei Kano taught, the ultimate goal of judo is the benefit of humanity. He also called for avoiding external influences, political, national, racial, financial, & more. He warned that major tournaments (often strongly flavored with nationalism) can lead to a retrograde form of "contest judo". One way how to counter that (and to honor the founding father) is to share judo knowledge as openly and freely as possible.

@@BusyCoder Very well said - a great summary of Kano Sensei's teachings (I just read his warning about contest judo the other day).

Create a triangle position with your lead foot, don’t step in too deep. You still need to have space between you and your opponent in order to fit yourself into the throw. Opening your arms before kuzushi creates space for you to fit into the throw as well. The yank downward that you see him doing is to get an obvious reaction out of his opponent.

Perhaps self defense, and cardio kickboxing classes for women. Especially since that crime rates are increasingly becoming more and more prominent and has risen at a higher rate in Fredericksburg VA and other areas.
