When I was younger, I had to watch my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So there I am, sitting in the waiting room of a hair salon with my niece, and who walks in but Ralphthemoviemaker. I was nervous as shit, and just kept looking at him while he read a magazine and waited, but I was too scared to say anything to him. Pretty soon, though, my niece started crying, and I tried to calm her down because I didn’t want to bother Ralph, but she wouldn’t stop. Pretty soon, he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair, and he asked what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So Ralph put down his magazine, picked up my niece, and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of a hair salon. Chill guy, really nice about it.

I saw Ralph at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Mars Bars in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

It's so weird Buster Scruggs was classified as "adapted". I know the Tom Waits segment was adapted from a short story, and it was definitely a highlight of the film, although the Cohen's still wrote a features worth of original material. That's like classifying a film as adapted for featuring a production of an existing play.
@jakeryanbaker

The rules are weird. Whiplash was considered an adapted screenplay because he technically made a short film of it before he made the feature. Same guy same story. Adapted. For... Reasons.

Hey I just watched after hours! Great overlooked scorsese movie that deserves to be a classic!
I really don't understand the hate towards Jeremy Jahn's, I know he's not the best analytical film critic but I find his reviews harmless and he honestly seems like a nice guy. I enjoy both sides of the review, the analytical film making perspective, and the general movie going audience (which I feel Jeremy more represents) Edit: Spelt critic wrong.......somehow.

It seems like I always find out about a movie they cover right before they release it. I’ve been looking for the Celebration for the past month or so, after researching more Dogme films, and lo and behold, look what they are discussing.
Alex and Adum couldn't be more wrong about Spotlight. Spotlight was an excellent journalism movie. It had a good ensemble and you feel the flavor of what exposing this meant and you feel the city of Boston and the strangehold the Catholic Church had on the town and what that meant to people when this all crumbled down around them. I loved Spotlight.

Oscar winning black panther 'caughs up blood'
@andrewheaney4874

The problem wasn’t the fact that Black Panther won Best Original Score, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design, since those were legitimately great aspects of the film, regardless of how “overrated” it might be. The problem was it winning over The Favourite for Production and Costume Design, and over If Beale Street Could Talk for Original Score.

I honestly doubt the majority of voters even watch all the animated nonimees. I think they just go straight for the Pixar film unless they've heard something bad or heard more about something else. I'm pretty sure the only reason Spiderverse won was the combo of the animation technique and Miles' race (I don't think the animation would have been enough on it's own), as cynical and insulting to the actual quality of the movie as that is.

It’s hilarious that they call Green Book a “dad movie.” That’s so true. I got into an argument with my dad about how mediocre it was - he thought it was a great movie with a profound message about coming to respect the humanity of another. I argued that that’s not profound at all, but about the most unchallenging, surface-level reading of the Jim Crow era/racism in America that’s borderline patronizing to modern audiences to expect them to be moved by it.

To the boomers, this is some radical feel-good shit. Found it a little weird that my experience as an aggressively-Italian man in the deep south in the 2000's was apparently worse than this guy in the height of Jim Crow, but whatever. They never held my Italian heritage against me, and they told me this all of the time. So reassuring.
