@@HolyGhostofBobbyLupo Ex-convicts as in NO LONGER prisoners or inmates - sorry, english is not my first language! It's very hard for people to 'get a second chance' in the US after incarceration. Difficult to find/get a job, a place to stay/live! We are talking about America and 4 american women in an american tv-show, so why the "check your department of labor of your county"? "About one third of all 30-year-old men who aren’t working are either in prison, in jail, or are unemployed ex-prisoners. Almost half of ex-prisoners have no reported earnings in the first several years after leaving prison; among those who do find work, half earn less than $10,090 a year or less than a full time job at minimum wage. These are just a few of the sobering findings from a new study of ex-prisoners in the U.S. by myself and the Federal Reserve Board’s Nicholas Turner. Using unique administrative data, we find that the labor market struggles of ex-prisoners start well before their incarceration. Most grew up in deep poverty and many weren’t working-or were earning very little-before incarceration. A disproportionate share grew up in racially segregated neighborhoods where child poverty rates were high, most parents were unmarried, and few men were employed." @@mlo3784 I'm not mocking you sir, your english is fine. Yes it is harder for them, a 2nd chance should be hard. The term of being an ex con was meant to illustrate the term EX as in former. They are released into public. And they are aided by state and county dept of labor, housing and jobs. Unfortunately quite a lot of them do not want to start over and expect to have a high paying job immediately yet that's not how life works even for those who never committed a crime. One would have to work their way up, more often than not they become frustrated with that fact. It's not that they dont get a 2nd chance, they do. It's just quite often they dont want to work their way back up. As a business owner, why should I risk hiring an ex con with a large salary rather than just hiring at an initial rate as we all had to start out when we were teenagers? I would hire an ex con at an minimum rate and would raise his salary as he proved himself working for me. The thing is ex cons do get a second chance, it is harder for them, but they do get a 2nd chance. problem is they have to start all over.

Forget about celebs and big companies for a sec. The problem there is those big media outlets write articles about cancel culture as they understand it - when it happens to influential people. Similarly, rich women wearing black on the red carpet for MeToo doesn't help the life of an undocumented women who is sexually harassed at work by a boss who knows she won't go to the police. If a Twitter mob whips up a storm over a working class employee's tweets or opinion or something that is unrelated to their work performance, in order to get them fired, how would you describe that? For example, an Uber driver who is not a native English speaker uses the wrong phrasing to a passenger and offends them, then that passenger screenshots their identity and a mob doxxes them, has them fired. Would that not be an example of cancel culture?

If an entitled celeb said something bigoted five years ago and was stupid enough to say it, or if they said it on social media and was stupid enough to not delete it, I feel zero remorse for them. Literally nobody is forcing them to open their mouths and spew their idiotic BS. What people refer to as "cancel culture" is literally free speech by other people. Exactly. My Google Translate once changed 'black' to 'coloured' and so, I complimented a celebrity on the make up matching her coloured skin. I got 42 hate-messages, even when I apologized and said it was a Google Translate mistake. (How should I know how America used to call their fellow men?) I then got 5 PM's with death-threats. Someone was busy finding out where I lived and if she knew people nearby to 'teach me a lesson.' She tagged all her friends, to ask who lived closeby and promised she'd hunt me down. I later received a message from the owner of the FB-page, apologizing for "her group" and saying she was going to miss my DIY-tutorials and messages. She said; 'You always put a lot of effort in your video's and your messages were great and funny. I loved the story on the Dutch translations." And I sat there, crying and typed; Thank you. I'll miss it too.' It's been a few years and I'm now busy with dragon-eye-paintings and other things that I'd have loved to make tutorials for them on. They don't know what they're missing out on.

I just don't like how "cancel culture" is being applied only to progressives as if conservatives haven't been cancelling people forever. Even in Whoppi's case, she was cancelled by conservatives not progressives. So if you're going to chastise one group for a particular type of behavior then chastise the other group too.

Part of the issue with what Sunny is saying is that we label EVERYTHING as racist these days. Seriously...someone doesn't like something you say on social media...it's labeled racist even when it has nothing to do with racism. For example, I said I didn't much care for the new season 3 of Charmed because it's sort of gone down hill writing-wise. Then people call me racist. I've been watching the show for seasons...I love the three leads!! I mean...wtf? Now if people don't agree with your opinion they label it racist as a way of shutting you down. It's annoying. You can't say anything even remotely negative without incurring wrath. You can only praise every single minority in every single thing they do or you'll be called racist. You can't give an honest opinion on their work.
