Sarah Ferguson's diamond tiara
The story of Sarah Ferguson's diamond tiara. There is a rule that a royal bride must marry wearing a tiara. But what about those who don't have a tiara of their own? For Sarah, for the first time, her own wedding tiara was commissioned and remained in her personal possession even after her divorce. Especially for her, Queen Elizabeth commissioned a diamond tiara from the jewellery house Garrard. In addition to the tiara, Sarah was presented with earrings and a necklace. On her wedding day to Prince Andrew, the highlight was when the bride wore a wreath of flowers over her veil on arrival and changed the wreath to a tiara during the wedding process. The symbolism was that she wanted to enter the abbey as a commoner and leave as a duchess. Sarah was last seen wearing the tiara on 5 July 2001 on the occasion of the White Tie and Tiara Ball. The last time we saw this tiara was on Sarah's daughter, Princess Beatrice. She wore it at the wedding of Prince Hussein of Jordan and Princess Rajwa in June 2023.

It was. I think it was better than Diana's, sorry to say. Diana's looked too much like a bed comforter, and was too puffy.

Yes, as much as I always admired Princess Diana Fegie's dress was so much better. Also, I never knew why she entered with the wreath and left with her tiara, lovely touch.

@@lydiapicano8806 well she did explain that but I can't remember exactly what she said. Something about going in as a commoner and coming out as a princess. That is not a quote. The press put that woman through hell a lot worse than what Megan had to go through. They even referred to her as The duchess of pork because of being overweight. The thing with Fergie is what you see is what you get.
The tirara is made of absolutely beautiful scrolls in foliage design. It's so delicate and intricate in design. Sarah Fergason was very fortunate to be given this brand new tiara in 1986. What's more wonderful is that her daughters may choose this piece of bejewelled artwork on public white tie 👔 events.

I remember this wedding, it was beautiful and Sarah never looked lovelier. The flowers on her head were very trendsetting and in style at the time. I think it was really the prettiest Sarah ever looked, she had some very unfortunate fashion moves and life choices after this.

The York Diamond Tiara is one of my favorite tiaras. It's too bad we don't get to see it very often. It's so regal, feminine and elegant all at the same time. If I were getting married, this is the tiara I would choose.

During the 90's Sarah took this tiara with her to the US however her personal assistant accidently put it with her luggage to be flown back to England. It went missing and was later found in the possession of a luggage handler. So lucky to get it back. The PA lady was later jailed for murder of her boyfriend. She was not in the employ of Sarah at that time.

There is no such rule. The flowers were changed to the tiara before they left the Abbey when they went into the chapel to sign the register. it is a custom, not a rule.

Sarah Ferguson did not _have_ a family tiara. Neither did the then Catherine Middleton have a family tiara to wear for her wedding. Lady Diana Spencer did; so there's that. Stephanie, the Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, wore her family tiara for the wedding ceremony, and one of the Grand Dukal family tiaras for the reception some years back. Good tradition. -- The York tiara was seen lately at the wedding of the crown prince of Jordan- worn by Princess Beatrice. So it's still around. 😊👍 ETA: you are correct, neither York princess wore her mother's tiara for her wedding... I loved the emerald tiara on Eugenie especially. 😊
