SARA'S SUDDEN PASSING

On the afternoon of September 26th, I carried Sara into our Vet's office. She had suffered a sudden physical downturn at home to where she could barely stand up! The exams pointed to cancer of the pancreas. I knew from her sudden change in her physical and mental state she was having a physical and mental battle going on in her. It had reached a point where she seemed to look up at me and say she was ready to move on after more than14 yrs. of a wonderful life. Rather than bring her back home to just waste away till she did pass away (she was not eating and keeping it down or drinking) the loving humane thing was to let her pass on painlessly and quietly on my lap looking up at me in our Vet's office as I told her how much I loved her...and will miss her smile every day of my life.
I'm Mark and my two "girls" are Sara and Katie. We have been experiencing the RV lifestyle since 2018 when I bought my 2008 Pleasure Ways Ascent RV. Now retired and after several years of traveling and having upgrades and improvements done to my old RV, the girls and I have settled into enjoying traveling, exploring and discovering the perks to RV travel and the freedom of that lifestyle.
These are the stories of our adventures on the road, the areas we explore and what we find of interest that you too might be interested in discovering. I began this channel from scratch, knowing nothing about any of this and I think I have steadily improved my methods and quality though I am far from "polished" like the more established You Tubers, but I am pleased with my progression.
So grab a cup of Java or what you please and enjoy each true story of our RV life of adventure and discovery that we present and please review our older videos also. We always are interested in our viewer's point of view and experiences if they have been to the location covered in any one of our video stories.
As always, please like, share and comment on the videos you take the time to view. Communication is always welcomed in this modern interpersonal computer world.
So as the Girls and I always say; "We wish you happy trails and WOOF, WOOF!"

@@doggonervn211 I agree! Breaks my heart those evil people abuse dogs! Saw a story where a family sold their home & left their senior chihuahua outside to fend for herself! I would’ve drove to Arizona to pick her up if my car was in decent shape!

I did the same thing with my last dog Tabby who died at 13 and a half years old. I had her from birth. Watched as she was born. I know your pain. It will pass but you will never forget your friend and I go back to the little case of ashes and I look at the paw print and her photo and it warms my heart.

Mark I am so deeply sorry to hear of Sara’s passing. She always seemed to be so full of life. With the loss that we have had to bear the pain is eased by focusing on the good times and the passing of time. For me, when something triggers profound grief I have found a way to ease my pain. Mentally I force myself to “change the channel “ of my thoughts to the best memories. More of a celebration of life. It has helped me move through the grief and I hope that it might ease your pain. My thoughts are with you and I hope that this might be helpful.

I understand how you feel my world has been ripped apart. My sweet Pomeranian of 18 years just passed this Monday from a vestibular attack that didn't get better. This was my first time having to euthanize a fur baby. She was like my child. I am so sorry for the pain and grief. Your video helped me to see that I an not alone and its okay to hurt. They are not just dogs they are our world. The only time they leave us is for the bathroom and to eat. They are always happy to see us and their love is boundless and unconditional. We turn to our furbabies for comfort in everyway and that loss is felt in every possible way. Your channel should be bigger because you are helping people by sharing your experiences. This helped me more than I can express. The thing that helped me is knowing that my furbaby knew I loved her and would want to comfort me if she could and she would lick my tears away. It is why we turn to dogs in the first place they do not judge when we cry or hurt they are just there for us and when they cannot be there any longer they would still want us to be happy. She didn't leave a hole in your heart she made sure that the place in your heart is just for her. Thank you for your videos.

Our pets are many times better than the people that surround us in everyday life! More empathetic and comforting and give us such joy and peace in this insane world we find ourselves living thru today. I plan to soon be getting a new 8-week-old Irish Setter Puppy this year. My son came up with her name, Ember! I thought it was perfect and is a good description of an Irish Setter's coat, red like the embers of a peaceful campfire. Katie is showing her age, she'll be 15 this June and I don't know how much longer she will be with me. The new puppy will be a companion to Katie till she passes and fill the gap for me from losing my two best dogs I've had. Ember (when I do get her) and I will have many new adventures in the future into my 80's traveling and exploring together. I hope you will follow along with us as we go into an unknown future in a crazy world.

Sweet Sara sure was beautiful. My eyes are so wet and my heart aches for you. We have a lot in common as my husband and I are retired and love our rv. We had 2 Boston terriers, brothers Buster & Wilbur. Buster passed away almost 5 weeks now and I still cry. I miss him so much. You know exactly how I feel. As you said it was one of the most hardest thing you’ve ever been thru. It truly is. I came across your channel bc my Wilbur suffered his 1st episode of vestibular disease a week ago …just 3 weeks after busters passing. It’s unbearable to watch him and it’s 24/7 care. Like Kate, he started coming around after 4 days but is still very very sick. I need to also lift him in and out of the rv. He still walks in circles. I can’t bear to loose another loved pet. Your videos are so comforting and I can tell it comes from your heart. I hope your trip is enjoyable and I will pray your Kate gets better. Your picture of Sara wrapped in wings is absolutely beautiful. May I ask where I can get one for my buster? Safe travels & God bless 💜

I am sorry for your loss and what you are going thru with how this vestibular disease is affecting your other pet now. I now fear she is slowly going blind because sometimes She will wake up and bark for me. The vet says that her eyes were beginning to "cloud up." As for those angle wing item, I scoured the internet for pet memorials. I think I found it on the site Perfect Pet "something." I found one sight that had the dog wearing a Christmas Cap and one without. I got one of each from the two companies, I can't remember their names, I am sorry. I do hope you will enjoy my coming videos of Kate's and My most recent trip.

A Vet Opthalmologist specialist might be able to treat the cataract...I took my dog and the specialist said we see the cataract early enough to either get her eye pressure eye drops to lower the eye pressure and this could help the cataract lens fall back and then see from the retina in the back. Or, assist by the doctor pushing the cataract back out of the way of the right now of course numbing the eye with drops and sedation. It's not general anesthesia. Will be farsighted but better than nothing. The lens slowly falling back could be uncomfortable so vet prescribed anti inflammatory pain med just in case. Doing it now. Specialist says it takes a couple weeks. The eye pressure should get checked on all older dogs, especially when get cataract and sometimes they could have an ulcer in the eye that could be painful so it's good to get their eyes checked by a vet ophthalmologist. If they have an ulcer there are eye drops they can take or for whatever other eye issues. The eyes can have changes quickly when getting cataract so I have to take him often to get checked. The specialist told me to give my dog a supplement called Ocuglo which is really good for eyes. It has Lutein, which humans take for eye health. I'm so sorry about Sara. I came to this channel because my Chihuahua have vestibular disease. Thank you for sharing. You've probably saved dogs' lives showing that they can recover. Thank you. @@doggonervn211

Kate will be 15 this summer and nearing the end of her lifespan so I am preparing myself for that loss also. I would like to see her meet her little sister, like Sara my Irish Setter pup was to her when I first got her after Katie. They were only a month apart in age/weeks.
