Thanks for watching. This is an old video from 2012. Modern materials will change the products but not the concept.

This is the basic warm weather bag/gear we recommend the Search and Rescue team members carry when doing a primary search in our back country located in Southern Arizona. Thanks for watching.

The radios most folk carry is the Icom with an extra battery. The communication van carries a charging unit.

I keep seeing leaf bags on sar check lists. Do you have anymore insight of type and usage? I guess they can be used for various tasks but was thinking more about material off and sizing. Regards

What I have used are large Contractor Trash Bags at least 2 MM thick. Others used the Leaf trash bags. I find this bags in the big home improvement stores.

how would you realistically rappel down without a rappel/belay device?

of course, but what i mean is that the video is obviously designed to show equipment that would be useful to search and rescue and in my mind it doesnt make much sense to bring/carry rope, webbing and carabiners, (all meant to enable a short, quick rappel) and then not bring a proper friction device to use to lower yourself.

You can very easily rappel with a carabiner with a munter hitch. Wouldn't hurt to bring an atc or ats though
