Good Session Pereira...you nailed it.. If a Basis guy wants to switch to UI5/Fiori app developer , what programming knowledge level is required, ABAP is not required right.

Glad that you asked... A Fiori App has 2 components- The backend part and the front end part --- The front end is built on SAPUI5 while the backend communication is handled mostly via OData. -- For SAPUI5 a general grasp on Web Development concepts is helpful .. I have a created course specifically to target this area .. its called Web Development Fundamentals for ABAP Developers -- www.beginners-sap.com/web-dev-for-abap/ Backend OData services are usually SAP Delivered, however you can build your own services using ABAP.

Not right now .. but thats a great suggestion .. Let me think how I could incorporate that in my future course offering.

Question: If we can put Netweaever sending internal tables through Odata that means that we don't even need SAPUI5 to built a Web Application using SAP Datasources. We can use any web tecnology that we want which supports Odata, right? Cheers

Yes thats true.. You could use .Net, XL, Adobe, Angular anything which works on the internet necessarily understands HTTP post, put, get methods hence understand OData. However, SAPUI5 is SAP's delivered Script library to develop business applications. If you are developing an App which you are intending to run within the user's Fiori Launchpad, then remember it has to adhere to the 5 Fiori guidelines one being coherent. and if you use any other development chances are your application may not be coherent with the rest of the Fiori Apps. But if you are trying to develop a generic app using SAP data then Yes, you can use any web technology. -- Good Question.

Can we develop OData services without Netweaver Gateway and deploy it on SMP3.0

i have seen almost 25 videos but i think this is best understanding which an professional trainer can give to one who dont have any knowledge.

Hi Sir but for s4Hana it's a R2 erp and it has no application layer and we do our operations in database layer itself. So to trigger odata do we need to maintain annotations in Hana eclipse to establish service??

Annotations only help the WEBIDE to understand and interpret the underlying data exposed by ODATA. So you can maintain the annotations directly on the backend or use the annotations modeler on the Front-End -- Please check my other video on ODATA and Annotations - it will clear you doubt
