On day 5 we head out early for a whale and dolphin watch. With plenty of time left and only 20 minutes away we hike the Janela do Inferno (window of hell). Day 6 we walk the cobbled streets of Ponta Delgada, visit the local pineapple plantation, and spend some time with family whom we never met. On day 7 we head to the heart of Sete Cidades to hike amongst dormant calderas and lush forest canopy. We step out to the edge of a cliff with sweeping views that stretch out over calderas and open ocean. With tired legs and empty bellies we make our way to the village of Mosteiros, the most eastern village on the Island where fond memories are brought back from our stay here in 2017.
