Just got the same speakers and had lots of issues with the audio jack where I was getting the "static" sound you mentioned and also the sound seemed to just come out of one speaker. I swapped out the audio jack cable to one of my own from another device and it worked a charm. So if you or anyone else gets these issues feel free to try another audio jack and see if that helps 👍
