This DMM, or all Sanwa instruments, had been so hard to find a "distributer" or any honest "seller" in the USA, I'd finally given up a couple of years ago. I ALMOST got scammed couple of times on "desperation purchases" from who knows I was communicating with. Congratulations to Sanwa-America on the recent start-up operation and this Channel's debut of the "new" company.

Gorgeous Sanwa meter there Darren, with a price tag to match. It's nice to see something of higher quality. Gotta love the extra resolution. If you cross your regular probes during temperature measuring you'll get the ambient temperature. Works with most meters should work with this one too. Love your reviews, Darren!

This DMM is practically a Brymen 867S. With some, at least in my opinion, important differences: The Brymen has a higher safety-rating of CAT IV 1000 Volt (SANWA CAT III 600 Volt). Brymen´s safety-rating is independent certified (UL listed). The Brymen 867S is cheaper. Even the more precise Brymen 869S is cheaper. The functionality is identical (even the 50000/500000 counts) to this SANWA PC7000. The housing of this SANWA was simply redesigned. But even the port for the optical USB connection seems to be identical. So, what is the point to buy a PC7000?

Very capable meter, it does seem good value for money although availability is pretty poor in the UK as far as I can see. Impressive input protection built in on a separate board, that is better than some claiming CAT IV 600V. I wouldn't mind getting hold of some of their insulation testers to review. Thanks for another great review.

Darren, I would like to ask you to review the Tasi TA801C multimeter. For me, it's perfect for electronics beginners with great value for money. It is very cheap, has automatic scales, 9999 counts, very responsive continuity test with loud sound and visual indicator and has diode test with 3.2V output. I think it's unfair that practically no youtuber has reviewed this multimeter that could be great for many people. Thank you very much!

Now this is one seriously feature packed high quality multimeter - and it should be for around $450 - but the best of anything is never cheap. The meter itself lives up to its reputation and price class, and just my opinion but as already mentioned for this kind of price the PC cable and software should be included along with a fully functional diode range and a stay on back light, especially using a nine volt battery. It must be said as with other Sanwa gear this is a very high quality instrument with a 500,000 count display that will read way down in the weeds with a nS range, something very few handheld meters have. All else aside, its one of the best in its class -

Spec-wise the Sanwa PC7000 is a Brymen BM867s with a few additions: - LPF (Brymen calls it VFD on the BM869s) - one temperature measurement (vs none on the BM867s and two on the BM869s) Brymen also increased the backlight timeout to more than 4 minutes (short backlights drive me nuts - 15 seconds is criminal). Brymen's PC comm software is a free download. But like Sanwa, you do have to buy the cable. I'm not sure, but I think there's a good possibility that Brymen's software and cable will work with the Sanwa PC7000. I must say, I like the look of the Sanwa better, but not enough to pay 50-100% more than the BM869s.

@@KeepOnTesting You had both ISO17025 calibrated? I have my BM869S calibrated ISO17025 annually for 5 years now, and it's always within spec, and those specs are consideraby more precise than sanwa's specs. So I have a hard time to believe that you've found the Sanwa more accurate, at least to objective standards. This starts to look like a sponsored video. So the Brymen is cheaper (accesories are cheaper too), has more functionality, has better specs, and has dust/moisture ingress protection.

The Features provided in this Multimeters are exactly matching with the Brymen 869S excluding the two thermocouple inputs which is possible in bm869s nd the Silicon test probes plus the 2 Bussman fuses And sanwa 7000 is much more costly than the bm869s. No reason to buy this when there is already a cheap alternative

That’s what I thought too. A lot of Brymen vibe. The “diod” designation, 500000 count mode, multiple pcb design, 4-20mA mode (the range selection in general)… it all breathes brymen, and that is not a bad thing!

@@TheGrantourismo Joe Smith tested the BM869S rotary switch. It passed the 50.000 cycle test with ease, something the sanwa still has to prove. So Brymen's are top notch in that regard. And of course the BM869S is better spec wise and has more functions. And the BM869s has rubber seals all around, something the Sanwa lacks. So no dust/moisture protection. I think the better build quality leans towards the Brymen in this case...

Then an other $59 for a USB/Optical cable link. Oh... and that doesn't come with the software. The will cost you another $49.00. So by the time you get the necessities together, you're at $608.40 USD + tax and i bet they don't give free shipping. (just a guess)

I think it's a matter of symantecs. Yes the PC7000 isn't cheap but it's also the top tier digital multimeter in the Sanwa lineup. Fluke 87V is roughly the same price but is alot less impressive technically. The fluke also doesn't ship with a case which is about 50$ more and the included Fluke test leads are crap. I do agree the USB optical cable should be included with the software as a standalone upgrade not 2 separate items. End of day, it's never cheap to get the very best but I can guarantee you it's worth it. 👍

Cheaper, more functions, better specs, better safety rating, casing is protected against dust/moisture ingress etc. Carry case is much cheaper, the pc link comes with software.... Sanwa is just overcharging. bigtime. And there are at least 2 free aftermarket software packeages available that work even better. For instance fast logging (5x/sec) in hires mode. Afaik they also work with the sanwa, as that is basically a brymen inside.
