The bernabeu is facade based renovation, they just put metal on the old bernabeu to cover it, nothing else, it's not a renovation per ser. I don't even know how long the old walls of the bernabeu can carry the metal facade put in front of it. There are a lot of unnecessary upgrade, like retractable roof, it barely rains in Spain, so what's the point, and the retractable pitch, you don't need it to host multiple events. Stadiums in the USA host multiple events and still don't have retractable roof. Wembley stadium doesn't have it but hosts events all year.

That's incorrect. While it's not a stadium rebuild, the project is more than the addition of the facade. There's actual remodelling going on inside. New restaurants, skybar, vip suites etc. Not to mention the obvious retractable pitch and the 360° giant screen. As for the retractable roof, it is very necessary in helping reduce noise pollution. Moreover, with the stadium becoming a multipurpose venue, one would want to future proof it for any unforeseen eventualities. Madrid is generally warm but recently it's also been experiencing unusual amounts of snow. To avoid any possible inconvenience, the roof will have that covered (excuse the pun). Unlike Barça that has the Palau for indoor events, Real Madrid doesn't have that luxury. As such, they have to make the Bernabéu versatile.

Exacto, lo que me parece absurdo es que el madrid se haya gastado mas de 1000 millones en eso, entiendo que vale mucho dinero lo del cesped y tal, pero el nuevo camp nou cuesta sobre 1000 millones tambien pero es una construccion nueva al completo

One is a renovation for Taylor swift fans in Madrid, the other one is almost a new stadium for Barcelona fans and the city (Spai Barca)

Bernabeu looks an industrial plant, it lacks character. Camp Nou is like a historical european building with character while Bernabeu is like a soulless skycraper made from steel and glass.

Bernabéu's design was developed with the key goal of being a multi purpose arena. It's located in the City center, then some architectonic and engineering regulations has to be respected.

Barcelona can get a retractable roof like Deutsche Bank Stadium and the grass vault in the future. They can, in fact, rebuild half the 1st tier and the second tier in the future, while keeping more than 80% of all this work. The club of the state needs to demolish the whole stadium, which isn't modular, and the 1 billions worth of blinds and bling when the structure starts to give way. Except that, Barca gets a huge underground system and actually a football friendly architecture, while Bernabeu is like a stadium from a distopian movie about the future overcrowded multilayered cities. So sad.

Sorry to say , but the cost of Bernabeu €890M is totally fake. The stadium has increased its cost to more than€1300M. The espai barca total budget is €1500M. To make things clear the camp nou curent budget is €1070M, but FCB predict as they will tru to make it arount 960M as they usimg recyclee material like the cement. Madrid had to borrow an extra 100M recently to finish the stadium.

Y el Parking no lo paga el club!!! (Ayuntamiento de Madrid) Para ser justos el coste del Camp Nou no estará cerrado hasta que termine la obra y el interés del préstamo es mayor por lo tanto es caro también, pero es cierto que el Real Madrid proyecto unos 650 y va para 1.500. Y otro tema es que se adjudica muchas veces el precio total del Espai Barça. El coste del estadio son 900m “teóricos” el resto nuevo Palau, Hotel, oficinas…

Camp Nou for much higher capacity (I consider this of vital importance), overall design, plus it is mostly a new construction at a much deeper level than just facade, roof + vip boxes. Bernabeu for the roof structure and some technological advancements, the roof in particular looks amazing. Not a fan of the full metallic exterior though, seems dull and soulless to me, some generic futuristic-looking thing.
