Santavy vs Pliesnoi | The Greatest Weightlifting Duels Ever

Спорт

At the 2020 Roma Cup I was able to watch and film some of the most exciting battles and back-room duels I've been lucky enough to see. This one is between Boady Santavy (CAN) and Anton Pliesnoi (GEO), two of the best 96s in the world.

What happened is that the clock started running beforetime and Pliesnoi had to rush his lift. I was there and saw the whole thing. Was very unfair. Luckly they gave him another shot but doing two 180kg snatches in a row can prove taxing heh.

@@colinphillips6919 I suspect that Anton Pliesnoi was using performance enhancing drugs during the 2020 Olympic Men's Weightlifting 96 KG category and here's why. During his first attempt "Clean and Jerk", Anton suffered a hamstring and knee injury but the lift was good. During the second attempt, Anton was limping badly after failing to complete the clean. During his third attempt a few minutes later, Anton gets his third attempt "Clean and Jerk" at 210 KGs, taking the Bronze Medal away from its rightful owner, Canada's Boady Santavy. Because Weightlifting requires a high degree of concentration along with a healthy body, there's no possible way a lifter can suffer severe cramps and injuries one attempt, and then gets a resounding good lift on the next.

As a weightlifter, I'm constantly scavenging for interesting content to watch. ATG, Hookgrip, nor Yilin Yang (for my Chinese dose) all do not post consistently, and Catalyst Athletics is more informative, like a library that you go to whenever you need to research something. Weightlifting House is properly delivered deliberately interesting sights that weightlifting have to offer. While ATG and Hookgrip may have a slightly bigger name at the moment, I definitely feel like Weightlifting House will become something big. Thanks Seb for your hardwork and sweet intro. Best to you.

I feel like with Boady, conditioning plays a huge role. What I see happening: Boady went all out on each lift, as shown, but he began to get tired (possibly it wasn't his day). That's why he becomes a bit more dormant. He felt himself becoming increasingly less energized. Anton saw that, boosting his morale. Anton played the timid warrior and waited for the lion to fall asleep.

Hey Seb! Thanks for recording the warmups and competition lifts. As a weightlifting fan, I appreciate you bringing us the behind the scenes look at competitions...but please save the commentary for the experts. For example, bring in the athlete or coach to talk about their technique and give insights to their performance and training block preceding competition, how warmups went, attempt selection, etc. Also, I noticed a few typos in the intro. I get that you’re trying to get content out quickly, but it helps to proof and just looks more professional.

fillleable team China can only send 4 male and female to the olympics, one being Shi zhi young, li dayin, lu xiaoxun, li fabin, Chen. All 5 of these guys have a higher chance of getting gold than Tian Tao so mostly likely not going to send Tian Tao but who knows.
