Outstanding! Buddy miles used to play this song as the drummer with Mike Bloomfield ripping on guitar in The Electric Flag in the early 70's, it's always been one of my favorites

@@geetarman Uh, no. He pretty much stepped all over Carlos at the beginning of the song. Buddy plays with great intensity, but he is a middling blues guitarist at best and nowhere near Carlos' level. His drumming is powerful, but similarly limited. His voice, on the other hand, is phenomenal.

@@willmercury I agree that he is not on Carlos Santana's level as a guitarist. The concept of Blues guitar virtuosity was invented by white blues copycats. Blues is about a feeling ..it is not a competition to see who can play the same LUCKS faster and cleaner. Buddy Miles comes with the real FEELING here and I'd rather hear that than listen to Bonamassa speed riffing all day. Buddy's singing sells it...the guitar is just icing.

I have had the pleasure to meet Buddy personly in germany in 2001 in concert and aftershow with friends. It started with him on Drums, after 3 songs he changing and play guitar and singing with an incredible soulvoice. I never know that from him before. Later he is sitting behind the bar and singing his new record completly live until the early morning. He forget to get his flight later on. The band at this evening was the Carvin Jones Band- R.I.P. Buddy, thankyou for this memories.

I still have that Eectric Flag album and still listen. I don't think the group or the album got its due justice. I didn't know Buddyy Miles even played guitar. What an amazing career. The original "Down by the River" by Buddy Miles is one of my favorites of all time.

@@VilleMaunu That was a Management decision. Chandler/Jeffrey Management was dead set against Jimi having an all black band from the beginning. Jimi wanted Billy Cox from the start. Who wouldn't prefer Billy Cox to Noel Redding???? Redding never play a note that Billy Cox could not have played better, but can you even imagine how terrible it would have been to hear Noel Redding playing with Band of Gypsys or Gypsy Sun and Rainbows????? Mitch and Buddy both had their place in Hendrix music. I love them both.

I bought his Fender Strat from a Pawn shop in Omaha,Ne in 1999. All Gold HDW with double whammy bar's for playing different styles.. Have the original signed pawn ticket by him too = George A.(Buddy) Miles. This is the 1st time I've seen him play guitar. AWESOME! He played a right handed guitar left handed upside down! WOW! Glad I have a guitar owned by him. Just as good with a guitar as he was on drums.

@@geetarman Buddy's biggest problem was his Narcolepsy. I saw him fall asleep while playing drums here in Omaha. I thought he was drunk but found out later what was going on.. Nobody wanted to work with him because of it. Studio Time Costs Money. Yes, he also had a DRUG problem that caused him a lot of hard times.. With all that said, he was at heart, a very nice guy..
