Thank you!! Always take care of places I go. I’m always picking up trash after people on the beach, too. Oh I’m enjoying it- it’s HOT 🥵🥵

Thank you man! That’s great to hear! Colombia is a great country- definitely consider it. Santa Marta is great if you’re not too picky about infrastructure. It’s more authentic and laid back and it has lightening fast internet (especially on Latin American standards)

Gaira is where we stayed for our last 3 months in Colombia - it’s my favourite part of Santa Marta! 👍🏼 I recommend that area

Great video thanks! I lived in cartagena for year, didn't like it. Should say great place to visit, but not so good to live there. What do you prefer, cartagena, barranquilla, or santa marta?

Santa Marta if you want the beach life, Barranquilla if you want ease of living and infrastructure. Both are incomplete but I prefer both to Cartagena. Cartagena’s walled city part is nice for 1-2 days and then I’m done lol

Nice! I commented before that I lived in Miraflores for 6 years.Time to find a new place and leave So. California...Do you prefer Colombia over Mexico? Mx. has gotten expensive.and pretty gringofied in many areas.Trying to avoid that lol..Also Santa Marta looks dry...I know its hot there, but is it a dry heat or a humid heat?

Yes! We are going to live in Miraflores for at least 1 month and see how it goes. Not sure when. You’re in California? One of my favorite places. Mexico I’ve only been to the Yucatán- 4 times - Tulum, Puerto Morelos, Cozumel, Plata del Carmen and of course Cancun. It’s pretty touristy and feels more dangerous. Coastal Colombia feels a bit safer but Santa Marta in general feels almost like Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It is scorching hot- fairly humid - hotter than Barranquilla- and there are more gringos than Barranquilla but that’s not saying much because Barranquilla you can be there 2 weeks and not see a gringo unless you go to night clubs. Santa Marta is my favorite place because I like safe, low key, easy to walk, and what most people would find “boring” because I could care less about clubs, bars or restaurants. Or how many “young people there are” 😂

@@jonathanells I think you'll really like Mirafores...Unbelievable food as know and a interesting locale on the cliffs overlooking laplaya..I went back a few months ago and they have really made more improvements to the city..Putting in a gondola near Larcomar that goe s down to the beach which is cool...Currently in Newport Beach..Love it here but good luck getting ahead financially or if you are single also a no go unless you own a McLaren lol..Latin America is where its at for me as far as that goes...Been all over Latin America Brazil etc..Love Mexico City..I just need to spend at least 6 months checking out Colombia.

Colombia is a great country. I’m definitely curious about Mexico City. Been to Mexico 4 times but always the tropical part. You’re spot on about California lol

Maybe...... I think the only issue is if you are not fluent it's going to be really difficult to get by in that City because it is not really set up for digital nomads and it's not a well-known City in a digital Nomad community so there is not hardly any English speakers there

  • @jonathanells

You’re speaking factual. There aren’t maybe nomads here - but LOADS of tourists. The hippie types and Europeans that are just trying to relax. But the internet is shockingly the best I’ve had in ALL of Latin America. 500mbps fiber op . It’s amazing. See, I’m weird. I don’t want to be in a Latin place where people speak English. It’s a turnoff for me. But then again, I can speak Spanish. I totally understand why you feel that way

Yesssir, It’s more authentic. I love to feel immersed in another culture. That’s why I left Medellin for Barranquilla originally. Too many English speaking North Americans lol. Barranquilla is such a gem. But Santa Marta has better internet and the best beaches in Colombia 👍🏼

Do they have crazy street vendors there like in Cartagena? I loved Cartagena but they were so aggressive. Turned me off.

  • @jonathanells

Haha not at all. That is one of my LEAST favorite things about Cartagena. I don’t even like it there. Santa Marta is super chill, including the vendors. IF they say anything, you say “gracias” and that’s it. Most won’t say anything unless you make eye contact. There is no following, no pleading, no shoving things in your face. It’s great

Santa Martha lacks infrastructure, stick to barranquilla, It's a great place to go to the beach and that's about it.

If “lacking infrastructure” keeps most of the douchebags away, I’m happy with it.
