Santa Fe 2926 HITS THE MAINLINE!
They restored it and ran it on the mainline.
For the first time since the 1950s, 2926 ran a short excursion from its restoration site to the Albuquerque Railyards where it was put on display for 2 days alongside Amtrak 203 and BNSF 3695. Plenty of bells and whistles for this event! #train

2926 has had PTC installed as part of her restoration so that’s one huge step in the right direction. Certainly puts her on the lead to be an excursion candidate.
Can't wait until shes got a enough miles under her belt to get out and run hard.

It will eventually pull mainline excursions on NM DOT tracks out of Albuquerque. I’m not a member, but the society has mentioned they are working on their new home base for 2926, the old Santa Fe shops in Albuquerque. New track was recently installed and restoration on the turntable continues. These projects will prepare the locomotive for actual excursions.
