For this Video we visited Greg Minnaar in Morzine at a training camp and were there to see how his mechanic does the regular service. After each training day the bike is taken apart. Watch the video and get an exclusive look at what is being done for Greg Minnaar to make his bike run perfectly. Even the bearings are opened and oiled for best smooth running.
Greg Minnaar is one of the most successful downhillers ever, in his career he became world champion 3 times, won the overall world cup 3 times, stood on the world cup podium 60 times. He is considered one of the smoothest and most meticulous downhill racers in the world, so he attaches great importance to a perfect bike.

Greg Minnaar ist einer der erfolgreichsten Downhiller überhaupt, in seiner Karriere wurde er bereits 3 mal Weltmeister, holte sich 3 mal den Gesamtweltcup, stand insgesamt 60 mal am Worldcuppodium. Er gilt als einer der geschmeidigsten und akribischsten Downhill Rennfahrer dieser Welt, dementsprechend legt er größten wert auf ein perfektes Rad.

    @@marcod6773 I also tried to recognise which lube it is. But wet and dry lube look the same. I couldn't read it properly.

    Typically something you would NOT want to do if you are just doing a standard bike wash, but if you are just about to do a complete clean and full rebuild it's fine. The concern would be in washing away the grease/lube from all the bearings (Pivots, hubs, headset, etc.) which you definitely do not want to do, but since Marshy is about to pull apart, clean, re-lube and re-grease every single moving part, it's all OK👍

    @@wd-40bike79 What's the benefit of using a chain lube instead of bearing grease? He's using chain lube for wheels' bearing and grease for headset bearing!

    @@frenzgraph Chain lube makes the hub noisier, more friction. More grease = softer hub.

    they are washers for two screws at a time, so they don't bind to the rotor by heat

    Ab 16:54, werdendie Speichen ohne Tensiometer nach gezogen ? Und nicht in einem Zentrierständer ? Ab 17:03, wird so der Seitenschlag überprüft ? Da bin ich aber entäuscht, hätte ich nich gedacht vonso einem Team.

    No issue it’s preference - metallic it works better when it’s hot and heated up it lasts longer but wears the rotor more - resin works better cooler lasts less and doesn’t wear the rotors much

    Alexander Jendreck Greg came from motocross. That’s what he used to do there. Every time he wasn’t able to decide which one to use Marshy would put a combination of metal and resin.

    They get inflated to 3 bar / 45PSI and let them sit with that pressure as long as possible. The final pressure is set right before the run.

    From 4:54, are the spokes retightened without a tensiometer? And not in a truing stand? From 17:03 onwards, is this how the lateral movement is checked? I'm disappointed, I wouldn't have thought this of such a team.
