Santa Cruz Local at Seabright Wigwag 2-18-09
Union Pacific's Santa Cruz Local of 2-18-09 roars by the historic wigwag crossing signal at Seabright Ave in Santa Cruz, CA. The train is traveling westbound between Watsonville Jct. and the Cemex cement plant at Davenport, CA. The loaded centerbeam will be interchanged with the Santa Cruz, Big Trees & Pacific at the Santa Cruz Wye for movement to Pro Build in Felton. The boxcar of lumber will go to another Pro Build location near Capitola. The empty coal cars will be loaded with surplus coal at the Cemex cement plant, which is being mothballed due to low demand.

What we're not seeing is the restaurant with patio seating close by. Trains, food and microbrews. . . . YESSS!
If I was the engineer on that, that intersection would really stress me out.

It has traffic lights so it’s safe now even without crossing gates
I don't understand why people (like the ones at the right in the view) feel the need to stand so close to the rails. Those folks looked like they were in the Track Zone. The Engineer and crew have other things to concern themselves when approaching an intersection.
all this grade crossing needs is 2 crossings on both sides of crossing !

So is that ONE wigwag ALL THE WAY on the EDGE of the street supposed to stop the other side to??

@@bubbabiscuitcub There's a traffic light on the other side of the crossing. Odds are that's what's stopping traffic on that side.
