Sanjay Dutt on drug addiction: I was sick, I needed help from my family

Only five years ago Sanjay Dutt was blowing something else. Permanently tripped out on cocaine, smack and scotch. Sanjay's bar room brawls and wild debauched lifestyle made him the hot favorite of gossip queens. Producers wouldn't touch him and friends drifted away - the world had written off Sanjay Dutt.
Sanjay Dutt, Indian actor speaks about drug addiction. He says, "I don't know I think I saw myself dying. I have got fed up with the idea of hiding, running and people looking down at me and running into the bathwater and I was falling sick so I decided and I said I need help from my family."
Tanuja, Indian actress speaks about Sanjay Dutt. She says, "My director used to tell that don't touch him, I was supposed to slap him in one scene but don't touch him, just sort of wave your hand in front of hi. If you touch him, he'll fall."
His comeback was straight out of the movies down-and-out actor first film flop surrenders himself to drugs loses a mother to cancer things hit rock bottom. Enter a director makes him relive the pain on screen as the audience fight back the tears a star or superstar is born and behind the scene the loved lawn poet from Sajan and a sensitive lover from Sadak was pumping iron.
His personal high-tech gym took him from cold turkey to steamy sweat, with a new lead of muscles, Sanjay Dutt bared his talents.

One thing I like about Sanjay Dutt is his love and respect for his father..He has done a lot of bad things in life which definitely catches everyone's attention but his devotion towards his father is something to be appreciated.

The thing I admire most about this gentleman is that he did not give up. Despite the odds being against him, Sanjay Dutt chose to channel his energy into pumping iron and improving himself instead of just withdrawing.

Akshay Rao yes he made mistakes. Its very easy to judge other people for making wrong decisions in life. From what I see, he has already paid a heavy price for his actions. Just to share, during my time in the army, i came across many such people who completely ruined their lives with drug abuse. In this case, instead of giving up(which is easiest) at least he persevered to make a positive change in his life. Cheers!

RS RS thanks for the kind words. Personally, I have seen how powerful desire can be. If you strongly desire something, you will leave no stone unturned to achieve it. This does not only apply to drug addiction. It can be any other goal that you want to attain in life such as weight loss, going back to school, career change, becoming the person you always wanted to be and a lot more. Your company is also seriously important, I remember how my perspective on life changed for the better once I started to make friends with positive minded people. The real motivation i get from sanju is that he never gave up completely although he had lots of ups and downs in his life he still gave his best to his work. He was suffering from all the hardships , he lost it and yet he tried his best and kept coming back . Which reminds me of a quote from Rocky Balboa's that goes like " it ain't about how hard ya hit , its about how hard ya get hit and keep moving forward .

But unlike Sheen Sanjay dutt was never abrasive and self absorbed. Sanjay dutt seems to be a really troubled guy who couldn't handle his demons. He has admitted to his flaws and worked towards addressing him. Atleast he uses his life as a lesson to the younger generation, by speaking against drug use.
