Sanding Resin: Before and after. Give your coasters a glossy and polished look

A tutorial on sanding coasters and preparing them for the final clear coat. a clear look at the before and after. Sanding coasters and adding a final clear coat is a personal preference. I find the smoother finish accentuates the 3d depth of the coaster and gives it a more polished look. The process is quick using a Dremel. It doesn't have to be perfect, when you use a good doming resin, the resin will level out once you are ready to put on your final coat.

Ack! I meant to join in on your premiere but I ended up making coasters!! Haha! I too use a dremel but I don't use the sanding wheel. I should try that. I recently did a product test on using liquid latex on the backside instead of tape and I LOVE it!! So much easier! Thanks for sharing - your coasters are so pretty!

I have tried school glue instead of the liquid latex it works great and much cheaper I used my dental pick that I use for weeding vinyl to start lifting it off and it came off in one piece . It was not my idea but the person who mentioned it voiced a concern for people with latex allergies .

Is that tape backing holding the coasters in place while you finish them? I was confused if it was for stability or to prevent epoxy from dripping underneath and getting on the surface. Those coasters are beautiful. Thanks so much for this!

@@udayprakashk1581 art resin is meant for the wall. Coasters are treated like a countertop and require resin that Is sturdy enough to handle it. Countertop resin is scratch resistant, but not scratch proof art resin doesn’t have the same type of sturdiness (unless the packaging says so) but either way, that is my best guess. My coasters are counter top and stay in great condition and the cats are always sending them flying around during their races - so countertop resin is also cat resistant 🤣

washing in the sink will release all the micro plastic from sanding into the environment, maybe better use a wet wipe that will contain the sanding dust and can be thrown into recycling/ proper waste management.
