Great tip Sam. I've seen some videos where the tube needs to be painted before the glue up. Do you think this technique is relevant for that scenario? Cheers, Ben

Personally I've never found it that difficult to sand the tubes. Atleast not to the point where I felt the need to sand them on the lathe. I will add, however, (like you said), if you are needing to crank out a large quanity of pens then this would be a better method than sanding each one by hand.

+hendu3270 It seems I am always sanding 20--30 pen tubes at once. Like I said in the video, I had that particular set-up in my lather and just went with it. Sam
