I took a detour on my way north through the nebraska panhandle and ended up at cresxent lake. This land has an ancient and powerful spirit unlike anything ive experienced. I want to sit in the grass hills w the sun in the air and the breeze across my skin and pretend im on an ocean of grassy waves

born raised here you can literallly drill for water horizontally into the side of a hill and let the water flow out the aquifer in the sandhills follows the terrain

We lived on Blue Creek and Crescent Lake is 20-30 miles north of us. The Ogallala aquifer is all around us. It is a vital resource. Unfortunately every one who interacts with the aquifer thinks his cause is the righteous one. The farmers hate the pipeline from Canada. However the farmers suck water as fast as they can for corn as feed and to make ethanol. Generally everyone loves the aquifer til empty.

As a non-resident I believe should be more open-minded to visiting Nebraska. I would love to see the sandhills and for some reason I want to drink from Ogallala.

I live in the desert, and love the desert. But I also love Nebraska. Is there any nice places where I can camp and maybe take my jeep through the prairie? And I'm not talking about racing through, I'm talking about enjoying the sounds and smells at 3 miles an hour. Thanks if anybody has any ideas.

A lot of people call this a fly over state, you look down from a a jet plane and see farm land and pivot irrigation, never knowing the wonders that the Sandhill planes have to offer.

Keep fighting the fracking and XL pipeline fellow nebraskans. I desperately miss our land
