There is a reason why u can't use kungfu moves in the ring, usually due to the rules and the gloves.

In general, Boxing and Muay Thai trains to never break their stance, while Sanda/Kung-Fu trains to switch stances. Sanda still reverts back to their more dominant stance though. The other strategy is to purposefully fight southpaw to have an advantage over the more common, orthodox stance.

Look up shuai jiao, it's grandfather of Judo with a 4000 yr history, Sanda uses shuai jiao with elements of Western wrestling. For the street both are good IMO.

A good Thai fighter whos not too afraid of taking on anybody is Kao. He once evaded a 7ft Korean for an entire 4 rounds without getting knocked out.

Nice fight!!! the ref always stopped them too early and split them apart. Still, it woulda only helped Bao Li Gao get a KO even faster :)

Why r all muay thai vs sanda fights in china under chinese rules with elbow pading??!! Mix the rules allow sanda sweeps and takedowns and muay thai clinching and elbow then the fights will be fairer and more interesting plus would be interesting to see these fights in lumpinee instead of china all the time

I could argue that because muay thai uses the punches of western boxing (not muay boran) that it is an immitation of boxing. Just because sanda fighters use boxing gloves and throw round kicks (which are different) does not mean it is an immitation of muay thai. Same goes for savate and full contact karate.

I respect muay thai as a fighting art, but some of the muay thai fans are just the whiniest sore losers I have ever seen. LOL.

greenb1a what you've said is not fact.'cause Muay thai was created,experimented,and evloved through the battle fields again and again to protect Thailand(Saim at that time)from its enermies for centuries.Many other MA like Karate,San shou, Predal sarey and ect.copy MT techniques due to its realistic performence.And that's O.K.Just don't discredit MT,please.

Why would you expect sanda fighters to rank highly in a sport/rule set that they do not train for? San Da is just as much about wrestling as striking... It's like comparing top level western boxers with high level Thai boxers, they are different sports.

Buakaw doesnt fight anyone above the 154 pounds. The guy above outweighs him by 20 pounds.
